Re: Traveller rear door check plate
I swapped mine over from left to right and replaced the dome head with a spring loaded cap head screw. I have a little knurled brass know on the top of each one which you have to lift the screw up with before the door will close. The original idea just seemed rubbish to me as the doors would never s...

Re: Spare tyre/wheel-does anyone not carry one?
When I bought my Skoda Yeti, I insisted on it having a spare wheel kit fitted or I would buy elsewhwere. They relented and fitted it FOC.
I was told the reason new cars don't have them is to save weight, apparently it is all to do with the CO2 emissions rating applied to the car.

Re: Timing cover leak solution?
I made a stiffener out of 1/4" thick aluminium to go around the bottom portion of the timing cover when I rebuilt my engine recently. Not sure if it really needs one but I have the facilites and I enjoy making stuff. I think you can buy these online. I dont have any oil leaks front or back on t...

I fear it wont be just forecourts that disappear, it will be the whole infrastructure including the refineries and transport network etc.
It will be the fuel itself that vanishes, not the places where you buy it.
The same thing is happening in the steam preservation world with coal supplies.

Can you not just buy some sheet aluminium and use your old one as a template to make one ?

Re: Cross-member bolts. (and... Brake Master Cylinder)
I think you may well be right about the bottom lug on the clutch pedal being in the wrong position Looking at your photos of the original pedal when it was in the car, the relay shaft looks to be in a much better position. The only difference is the new pedal that could be causing this issue. Have y...

This Moss Parts diagram shows what Phil is talking about. https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/clutch-system-minor-1951-71.html Oddly though this old post shows it the other way round in the AKD530 manual. https://www.mmoc.org.uk/Messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=59006 Just looking at your photo's again, can yo...

Re: Gearbox to chassis earth strap bolt
Assuming your earth strap is connected to one of the crossmember bolts and is just spinning a not tightening up, you will have a problem with the captive nut no longer being captive. Depending on which side of the car you are looking at will determine how difficult it is to fix, if it is a UK right ...

Me neither, but if you google Minor lowlight there are a few images showing the same setup on other cars.

Re: Garage Floor paint
I lined the complete garage floor with 3/4" thick plywood sheets, they came from used packing cases. I get no more damp in there now. and it is not as cold on the feet when working in there or laying on the floor etc. I also got some 1" thick polystyrene and lined the underside of the stee...

Re: Water temp gauge
I totally agree, the actual temperature indicated is not that relevant, but it will tell you if it differs from its usual normal when driving. I actually fitted an electronic stabiliser when I did the dashboard mods on my car. That's how I knew about the 10V bit. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Semicondu...

Re: Water temp gauge
The voltage stabiliser gives a nominal 10V supply, so if running on 12V you might get higher readings.

It does have all the hallmarks of a poor connection to the battery, or a bad earth connection.

Have you got the polarity correct, LED's will only work one way round. Try swapping the wires and see what happens.

Have you tried the old trick of using two hammers.
Use one behind the eye of the arm to act as an anvil, and hit the opposite side with the other hammer, this shocks the eye open slightly and the taper should pop out.

I would imagine that if you make contact with them they will ask you to pay a securing deposit to hold the car for you, then disappear with it.

Just curious if the rotary wash machine in the selection of photo's from August 9th is a "Guyson" unit, it looks like a Formula 750 to me.
