Re: Opinions on master cylinder bore

Thanks for the replies everyone. Looks like it'll have to be a new one then - this is quickly getting expensive!

Opinions on master cylinder bore

Hi everybody, As part of its recommissioning I'm currently rebuilding the brakes on my 1970 2dr, which has stood since 2009. The brakes seemed to work OK, but the rears were stuck on, so I've decided to do a full brake stripdown to check the condition of the whole system. Not good so far - looks lik...

Re: landrover

38+mpg is very good indeed! There is a company around this neck of the woods (Thetford I think) that'll do a 200di conversion - essentially a Discovery 200Tdi engine with the turbo removed. From memory they claim about 35mpg, plus performance equal to a good 2286 petrol, at the expense of increased ...

Re: Anyone used these tyres on their Minor?

It's an interesting thought. The speed rating of the ones Jordan linked to is 'M' - 80mph, so just enough for a standard Minor. The load index is also perfectly acceptable (in fact higher than the Bridgestone Ecopia). Only problem is, if you search for images of 'Pirelli 135/80R14', it seems that th...

Re: Anyone used these tyres on their Minor?

The 135s I mentioned are to be found here. A bit on the expensive side sadly.

Re: Anyone used these tyres on their Minor?

I've never seen another 150 width tyre either. I did think the 70% profile was a bit on the low side for a Minor, but then again they are cheap! Interestingly the same site that I linked to list a 135R14/80 tyre, which might also be a good fit on the Minor wheel rim. I seem to recall somebody saying...

Anyone used these tyres on their Minor?

I was ordering some motorcycle tyres from this website, and decided to search for Minor tyres. Came across these . Certainly seem much cheaper than the Bridgestone Ecopia, which now retail at about £60. I wonder if anyone has tried them on a Minor? My only concern is that the profile is a bit low at...

Yes, because a motor trader must offer a warranty when they sell a vehicle, whereas a private seller obviously doesn't have to. It's the oldest one in the book for a trader to pose as a private seller, in order to get out of this obligation.

More Brussels Sprouts Re: MOT Testing

Just a bit of a heads up for something that looks to be coming our way, probably from 2016 onwards. So far I've only seen this on motorcycle-related sites , but it is something that (if it comes to pass) will impact on car owners too. Owners of modified vehicles should be particularly worried. It wi...

Re: Is this panel available?

Had a reply from ESM today, saying they do not make, and have no plans to make these panels :(.

Unfortunately as I don't have any metalworking equipment (or skill), making my own curved repair sections is a non-starter. Not looking forward to learning how much it'll cost to get them made :-?.

Re: Lead additve

A tip I got is to mix 2 stroke oil with the petrol at a 1:100 ratio to lubricate valves, upper cyl. head etc. The only downside to this I can see is possibly the need for more frequent decokes. I wouldn't do this for more than the odd tank. One problem that 2 stroke bikes get is that after a while,...

Oh dear :(. Thanks for the info.

I had emailed ESM on Thursday to enquire, but haven't heard anything back yet. Doesn't sound like it's going to be good news then.

Re: Quick tart-up of 'Sarah' - 1970 2dr

Haven't been able to do very much on it due to being continually unwell, but here's my progress so far: Lights and indicators all working now. A couple of earths were a bit dodgy. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/chrisd87/DSC04102.jpg Also had something of a change of mind regarding the engine...

Re: Is this panel available?

Hi Mike, Just had a look at Tom Roy's website, which lists the £18 repair panel, but also "4dr C post NLA £0.00" (presumably meaning no longer available). Not looking good :-?. That said, I've just had a look at a 2005 Bull Motif catalogue I found in my bookshelf, and there's no mention of...

Re: Is this panel available?

Hi Mike, Thanks for the reply. I'll have to phone them up and ask how far that repair section extends. Judging by the price, it'll be the same panel as the others I've seen on the ESM and BM websites, which don't really extend far enough (as far as I can tell) to repair all the rot in the picture. N...

Is this panel available?

Been browsing through the websites of all the usual suspects, and can't find this panel anywhere. All I can find is a repair section for the very bottom of the 'C' post, which by the looks of things wouldn't extend far enough up to repair this grot. Does anyone know if it's available? Won't be needi...

Re: LCB Exhaust tight up against cross member.

Curious. First port of call should be to contact the place you bought it from. If you try bending it (which doesn't sound like a very good idea due to the risk of fracture) the warranty will most likely be void.

Looks good. Are the wheels banded Minor wheels, or are they specially manufactured?
