Re: TOX 79H The Snail Returns :-)

Actually there is more information about the snail , also the image is copyright to kevnorth 2009 . The kenbrake minibus alongside vsl528 has been taxed and tested until 2016 . If you could find the owner , they may have spoken about history Kevnorth may know the event if you could find him . Very l...

Re: TOX 79H The Snail Returns :-)

Claire , I have just googled the registration number . At the bottom of the first page of results is a site regarding custom wheels in which it is said that the snail was created by a coachbuilder in 1984 . There is no further information given .

Re: Help this Electricle part number of S.U

I agree with Don , looks like a ceramic disc capacitor . It should have a value printed on the underside , which you could see by gently pulling it off the points . Looking at the size of it possibly 0.047 or 0.022 microfarad ( a guess ) together with an indication of maximum working voltage . Looki...

Re: Vehicle identification issues

It may be worth obtaining a British Motor industry Heritage certificate which will give you build & shipping dates & specification . The fact that you have a V5 with chassis & registration numbers shows that it is known to Dvla . They should be able to change the owners name to yours if ...

Re: 1982 registered traveller

You could also look at DVLA website at the car's MOT history & other things . It does appear to have been built & registered 1982 . Be aware that the car is probably not " historic class " & vehicle duty may be payable .

I found that I could not countersink the bottom of the front engine plate with the engine in situ . If you are going to remove it anyway I would suggest that is the time to countersink .

Perhaps it is all a testament to their determination to keep an older car on the road despite the challenges many of us also face .

Re: Brings the old Johnny Cash song to mind...

I am sure that there is an innocent explanation but MOT history shows a reduced mileage between 6th August 2011 of 80265 to 23099 16 days later on 22nd August 2011 . The first ( failed ) & the subsequent pass being conducted at the same testing station !

Re: Engine Plate/Number

Monty , originality is gone anyway with the rebuilt engine being fitted . You could speak with DVLA & ask how to proceed . You could rebuild the original engine & refit . You could fit a plate with a number relating to a " gold seal " type engine . I would not fit a plate with the ...

Re: Scttish Scrappies??

Thought I was close but Google image capture March 2011 , some of the cars would not have been scrapped at that time . However , when I posted I was VERY confident of the location . It is possible that none of them remain . I have contacted a Bill Ward but he does say that he has not photographed an...

As a little aside , the photographer is probably Bill Ward , the actor who played Charlie Stubbs in Coronation Street . Before I found the above , I sent a message to his agent asking for any information . Any response I will put on here .

Re: Question on my project car!?

This may seem like negativity but I would suggest a very careful appraisal of the rest of the car . Those wings may be hiding more rot in other places . You have asked for second hand wings , that being the case , you would need to remove those wings . At that point you will have better view of the ...
