Thank you both for your reactions.I think it is the only safe way to measure the journals.
Luckily there is one in the village who can help me because I don't have one.

Size of conrod bearing
I need new bearings for the conrod for a 1098 cc engine.
Problem is I don't know what size I need to order.
On the shell is marked inside a circle: AL ,another circle with the letter:G and the letters DM
Underneath is the number
12A 630
Can anyone shine a light on these numbers?
Best regards

Re: Rear hub oil seal
That must be the answer because after a lot of fiddeling I removed rubber but no steel !! :D But how on earth do I remove the steel ring without damaging the hub. Do you know a trick or do I have to put it on a lathe to carefully remove the steel. :o Thank you very much for your reactions! Regards J...

Re: Rear hub oil seal
Thank your for the reply.
To the knowledge of those "in the know" even the large capacity Vans had the same rear axle.
They even used the same one for the 1500 Wolseley.
I find it very strange that I have two of those axles

Rear hub oil seal
The rear hub oil seal from my Van is sweating a bit. No problem I thought so I took a new seal but it is simply not possible to fit it in the hub. The inner diameter of the hub is 59,7 mm and the outer diameter of the "standerd"oil seal is 63,4 mm. :o  I have another rear axle but it...

I had the flywheel in the freezer and the ringgear in the oven ,I think 240 degrees celcius and that worked well in my case.

Re: Help! Engine installing problem!
From the centre of the bolts right to left is about 38,7 cm.
It can differ a bit because I measured it with the bolts fitted.

Re: Variation in flywheel thickness
The engine block of the first picture is a 1098 cc, the second picture is a silverseal 948 cc engine.
You say that the thick flywheel belongs to a series 2, so you mean the 803 ohv engine?
By the way thank you both for your comments!

Re: Variation in flywheel thickness
Well the thickness of the 948 flywheel is the same as the other "thin i.e normal " 'flywheel.
I also have another thick flywheel and that was on a 1275 Midget engine I had on my traveller alas that engine is no more because of a failing aftermarket oilseal .
