Re: No Start - Another Easy Fix!

Good observation. Just went through a week of stress where the voltmeter was registering just under 12v and at the starter near 14v. The missing 2V kept coming and going ... found some connections at a fuse looked great but alas needed a squeeze. The 2V mystery was solved, no new alternator needed ...

I have a chance to add a supercharger to my 1098 2dr saloon. It does sound like a fun project, with benefits, are there many downsides? I have balanced the reduced circumference of easily local found tyres by moving to a 3.9 differential, however, the cost in getting up to traffic speed quickly has ...

Re: Ignition

I chose Petronix electronic ignition. I used this brand for many years in my Spitfire without a miss. In the Morris (1098) I saw an immediate improvement in cold weather starting and running. It was good before and excellent for the last couple of months. Now the temperature is rising the performanc...

Re: Brake fluid theory

I used silicone break fluid in my Spitfire for years. All was well. My new-to-me Morris Minor came wit Dot 4 so I am just waiting for a good time to switch. Dot 5 is much easier to keep in the car and on the shelf though a little more expensive. Hydroscopic materials are very difficult to separate c...

Wiper Motor upgrade

I am looking for a source of the gearing of the wiper motor. The diameter of the gear is 2 5/8” and currently sweeps about 100 degrees. I am looking for a 120 degree gear to improve the wiper coverage. Does anyone know of a source or alternative model which can yield such a sweep?

Re: Wheel spacers to change PCD. Good idea or bad?

I have had difficulty in finding tyres on this side of the pond usingn155 x 14 tyres. As a result the tyres I am running are 175 x14. This makes the teeming heavy. Who is selling proper tyres with propper prices in the Canada? The wider tyres are “OK” on most smooth highways but struggle when run on...

Another quieter 1000

The road noise was more than I wanted so I added sound absorber (1.5”) under the back seat and then 1/2” foam behind the quarter panels and finally stuck absorbers to the outer skins of the 2 door. Nice difference. Still have to address some suspension noises from the back. I chose to use stuff from...

Thanks for the detail. I will dig in soon. Holding on to the shifter while driving was nearly as annoying as the rattle.

Anoying Rattle from transmission

Just getting going as a new car and all is well except for a nasty rattle from the transmission which is stopped by resting my hand on the shift lever. Where should I begin?

Thank you for the welcome and yes I have kept every bolt etc. Having driven around southern and western England I see the practicality of the MM, a little less so in Ontario Canada but with a few changes I am hoping to continue the sense of adventure. We are still buried in a foot or two of snow and...

Last month I became the minder of a mostly renewed 2 door Morris Minor 1000 from 1964. I have kept everything as original but for daily use I have installed Subaru front seats with seat belts. My first car in 1966 in Montreal was a 2 door from 61. It gave me reasonable service commuting to college b...
