Just out of interest could you use a decompression plate with a 12G940 head on a on a 1098cc engine to negate the valve clearance issue? And if so would changing the compression ratio slightly (probably increasing the displacement by around 6cc)negatively effect performance noticeably?

Yipee! Thank you chaps! :D I thought as much but as a relative novice its always good to confirm, and its just as well really as I wasn't having much luck with my search. With all said and done then, if one wanted to replace the rear axle (Theoretically) with another axle assembly (Diff and all), what would be the options? Or perhaps I should say the easiest options?

I've been looking for a damped crankshaft pulley and today I looked a bit closer at my current one and I realized that I may already have one! :D So I think this is a damped crankshaft pulley but I'm not 100% sure could anyone verify weather it is for me? Don't forget to check the vacuum advance, I had a split in the rubber connector (to the carb) causing a rough idle before I pulled apart my car (and some of the engine) for the ongoing restoration!

I Suspected it would be that half shafts, I just wondered :D And maybe I should have said besides the driver!?! :lol: This begs the question though any idea how much power could a standard 1098cc drive train take with uprated shafts or even a different rear axle? Obviously there's a lot to take into...

Something that's been on my mind for a while now that I've always wondered - What is the weakest part in the 1098cc drive train from the engine back? Any ideas or opinions welcome!
