Best film to watch this Christmas?
Certainly, I think so. I discovered the Badger Lodge Garage YouTube stuff early this year and can thoroughly recommend it to anyone, such as the denizens of this board, with an interest in cheap(ish) old cars in general and Morris Minors in particular. I really enjoy the guy's dry yet knowledgeable ...

"So I tried bleeding just the wheel where the cylinders had been replaced, and lo and behold, bubbles. LOTS of bubbles. In fact, a never-ending stream of bubbles!" Sounds to me like you've probably got air finding its way in past the bleed-screw threads. Are you loosening the nipple by jus...

Hello Mike - as far as the car's history is concerned, I imagine you've already had a look at this:-

Re: Hello!
You could always ask Mathewsons where they collected it from then go and knock on a few doors in the neighbourhood to see what recollections the locals have of the car and its owner/restorer. Just a thought.

The fact that it's never had an MoT test might well be explained by this possibility.

If they did, it's a fair bet that this one's got something like a 1940's Buick V8 in it!

Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start
In the sort of starting situations that you describe, are you using the fast-tickover choke position or just pushing the choke fully home? Any time you do overuse the choke and end up with a flooded, non-starting engine, the usual remedy is to push the choke right in, press the accelerator to the fl...

Why not follow philthehill's earlier advice and try differently heat-rated plugs in the appropriate cylinders?

"...Elaine and her Mum..." - Oops! Sorry, Elaine (and, indeed, Chloe) but from your original post where you wrote about your daughter's car under the 'Elaine's Minor' heading I rather got the wrong end of the stick. Apologies to both of you.

Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start
I didn't make the suggestion based on the necessity or otherwise of pumping oil around the engine before it starts, it was merely to enable Elaine and her Mum to get a feel for how much choke Elaine's Minor actually needs for it to start satisfactorily in various situations and varying ambient tempe...

Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start
When you push the choke back in as you're driving off, instead of pushing it all the way in, try pushing it to within 1/4" or 1/8" of the 'off' position so that when you have to stop for traffic or whatever you'll get a fast idle rather than it stalling.

All Rover P6's had boot-located batteries too and that arrangement worked just fine.

Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start
It's also worth knowing that the first c.1/8th inch "pull-out" of the knob doesn't actually set the choke but instead sets the fast idle; this can be useful for cars (such as your daughters?) that tend to stall at idle during the early stages after a cold start.
