Re: Register your car / update your details!

The contact details on the page are correct as far as I know. Richard and David are current registrars so any updates should get through to them.

Restoration Manual

I haven't seen this mentioned on the messageboard yet so for those that may not have seen this yet and may be looking for last minute Christmas ideas.... IMG_7208.PNG I was fortunate enough to see an early draft and completed copy a few weeks ago now and can highly recommend it. A great technical re...

If you look on eBay you will find a supplier who sells braided leads in a variety of colours e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225436198597?hash=item347d0b66c5:g:1agAAOSwS4ddRWzq&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8KmEwggC7b6CfISJwlXe69G4jop%2FibQ9iPrY5m9JUGUdZrY5DQATdRxmbc7gxXnfIFj6nAXA3AzhNEfidcNMq1Zyo3Pb8xAg...

Not that they are particularly required in this country, if anyone is interested, there are some NOS dashpot heating elements for sale on eBay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143609797518?hash=item216fcf9b8e:g:WzAAAOSweEFeOI~J&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4FraXD7lWcuQU%2BnZ6Jq%2BHE8YSp2O3Wd2ZMUJxjfXyn9OlKsC...

Re: MM radiator top hose

Looking at the newly available hoses from ESM and similar, there are two lengths of hose. The shorter of the two, like the nos one you have acquired, is for sv motors with a water pump and the longer hose, as fitted to your car, is for those without a water pump.

Re: BRITOOL sockets

Teng are pretty reasonable for a modern brand. I have two of their half inch socket sets and they all have lifetime guarantees. I broke one of the power bars years ago (can't remember how exactly but I'm sure it wouldn't have been an approved use...) and it was replaced without quibble. Good quality...

Re: Hello!

The car also appears to have the original ace peak number plates and the reg/date ties in, so I'd be inclined to think it's original. A heritage certificate from the BMIHT should give you more information on the destination of the car. It should indicate either the U.K. Dealer it was supplied to or ...

A quick google shows a few Minors in Cuba. Even an early car. No idea what's under the (short) bonnet though.

Re: American style.moggy ebay

That's spot on Berni. People don't mind modifications per se e.g disc brakes, alternator etc but I think 'styling' is a very different and individual thing. Paint jobs, chrome, interiors and the like can be a very personal thing and usually divide opinion. There have been quite a few customised/perso...

Perhaps it's the colour scheme, but it strikes me as more Cuban style than American.

Fascinating site, looks to be lots of good winter reading here. Thanks for sharing 👍

I'd also highly recommend Graham Robson's book on the A series engine. A very interesting read and source of useful facts and figures.

Well I certainly won't be taking a swing at you... I agree with everything you've said. It's not perfect but then nothing is and the classic car world would be poorer without it.

Re: 2023 Classic Car Show, NEC - where did the cars go?

As someone who attended the show, had a car on a stand and manned a stand for the three days of the show (as per most years, usually March and November annually), I partly agree with those comments but here are my thoughts. Tickets for the show are very expensive, far higher than they should be, but...

Early lowlights sent to Australia weren't CKD, they were fully assembled at Cowley and dispatched by boat. Gaydon certainly have the build records for those cars, I checked through records earlier this year 👍

I have a tourer that is a rolling shell in primer. If I get a chance, I'll photo the firewall in the daylight and post up some photos. Will try to do the same with my 49 saloon although can't vouch that it will be 100% original. Philip: Thanks for this, as I need the same info for "Clementine&...

Assuming the car is right hand drive, the chassis number of 63368 places the car about mid September 1950.
