Speedometer cable pinion oil seal retainer
I'm replacing the oil seal in the pinion housing, and noticed on both ESM's and Moss Europe's websites there is supposed to be a retainer installed (ESM 9G215, Moss 2A3255), but neither has it available and there wasn't one in my housing when I took it apart. I'm wondering if the oil seal (9G214) is...

He did! Great show, hundreds of British cars on display from RR to A-H, Morgan, Lotus, Triumph, MG, Aston Martin, Jaguar, everything. I'll post a few pics under a separate thread for interest.

Re: Restored and ready for his first show today!
Yeah, that's true in Texas, I don't know about other states. But there's a wide gap between the law and how it is enforced. Texas says as a resident you cannot display any registration other than a Texas plate. Yet every British car show I've been to the cars show their UK plates, so I think it woul...

Re: Restored and ready for his first show today!
Thanks Mike, yes, I did the Waxoyl treatment from spray cans with the long hose attachment, so hopefully got into every cranny. Another job I would never have thought about without this message board. When I got the car in 2005, there was a waxy residue inside those cavities at the base of the rear ...

Re: Remote brake fluid reservoir
I've been looking to upgrade to disk brakes, and noticed that FBK901 is listed as not suitable for silicone brake fluid, which I use. I questioned ESM why, and was told they thought it was something to do with the fluid reacting with the hose and supply tank, said they would try and confirm, but no ...

And a couple more as I seem to have hit the Gig limit.
Eagle eyes will spot that the heated rear door glass isn't wired. Next project is to fit an alternator. Followed by front disk brakes, and....well, we'll see.

Restored and ready for his first show today!
This is my 1968 Traveller, finally (after 4 years) restored, and ready for his first show. Got a local one today, then next weekend he's going to the All British Car Days in Round Rock, Texas. It's been a long and (mostly) pleasurable experience. I learned a lot. My best tips would be: 1) Know your ...

Re: Travellers now back to the level of 10 years ago!
Thanks for the info on the gas struts, Mary. I called David Manners, while they show currently unavailable, it just means they are on permanent special order. So they are available, just not right away.

Re: Travellers now back to the level of 10 years ago!
Lovely dogs (!), and I see you have upgraded to gas struts top solve that pesky issue of the original stays wearing out and not keeping the doors open. Can you share what/where you bought them? Did they fit the original holes in the wood?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Coolant leak at front of engine
Replacing the bypass hose stub is a job I have to do on my (non-running) '62. There's only about 1/4" inch of metal left protruding, too little for a clip to grab. With the engine still in the car, I've tried to unscrew the stub, but the angle is impossible and I just break more off of what's l...

Re: Door panel waterproofing
I've fitted the new door cards now using the ESM-supplied vinyl membrane, and very pleased with the result. Just to correct my earlier assertion that the holes on the vinyl don't line up with the holes in the door. Idiot me - of course they don't, but they do line up perfectly with the ones on the d...

Re: Door panel waterproofing
Thanks all, great info. Sure am glad I didn't drill out all those holes. I'm wondering if I had, if the clips along the top edge sitting in plastic plugs would have been slightly less secure than the intended metal to metal contact, and maybe shaken loose. Would not have wanted the door panel fallin...

Door panel waterproofing
I bought new door cards to replace the old, warped ones that had evidently got wet over the years. Also a poly liner, and plastic plugs that seal the panel clips into the holes in the sheet metal. I noted the drilled holes in the upper part of the door were too small to accommodate the plastic plugs...

Re: rubber bumper in upper window channel on traveller
I replaced all the woodwork on my Traveller also, and needed to find those rubber bumpstops, as mine were hard and perished. I bought a rubber bung from the hardware store, and cut them to size on a thin-bladed bandsaw. Easy. The tricky part came fitting them. The gap between the top and bottom wood...

OK, thanks for the replies. So what would be the procedure to check whether it's the stabiliser or the gauge needs replacing (or both!).
Simple please, obviously I'm not very competent in electrics...

Fuel gauge problem
On my 1968 Traveller, looks like I've created a problem I need some advice to fix. Ever since I've owned the car, the heater motor hasn't worked. I've done a full restoration on the car in the last 4 years, and part of that was cleaning up the heater matrix and checking the motor, which worked OK ou...
