I know the diameter of the filter opening matters on an 803 to maintain oil pressure however this filter appears to have a smaller hole maybe 1mm-2mm down past the larger hole on the threaded part, I pressume this is okay for use without a restrictor?

Definitely clattering, it sounds like a tobacco tin full of bolts is on top of one of the pistons

Are you sure the noise is definitely coming from the engine? Have you tried revving it from the carb inside the engine bay to try and pinpoint the noise?
