If I have put too much oil in and it is above the max mark on the dipstick should i be worried?

just noticed it was low the other day and over did it.

colour of the oil is quite black so may be worth a change soon too!

it is moving round as i turn the fan round. i can also see the two little contacts touching at the relavent point. Why is it not fireing. Should I take the thing apart? I dont really know what I am looking for.
