Re: electric fuel pump?
Tapping the fuel pump did the trick, hoping it might continue to work ok now. Thanks very much for the input :tu1: Hopefully just stuck with standing but we'll worth taking the end cap off and cleaning points as advised by others. Removing the earth connections and giving them a clean is worthwhile...

Re: Piston

Re: Beehive Springs -again!
IMG_20240316_121357783.jpg Hopefully the image will post. The difference between old original and new replacements is quite obvious. It's impossible to fit the spring with the longer "hook". I junior hacksaw a piece off to make them the same as the originals. No problem fitting using a pa...

Re: Piston
Bill That is the main seal of the slave cylinder. The dust seal of the slave cylinder is much larger. See link below. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/395196380647?itmmeta=01HWJHXB2ZACMZY64D4Z2EZYR9&hash=item5c038a35e7:g:tqcAAOSwMSxfw-yI&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAABAIDWhzUbgU1dnMmsRKEcC6yPzURyL3dTxxv4Tt...

Re: Piston
Would help if we knew what it was, I'm guessing a clutch slave cylinder? If so the indentation in the piston is for the pushrod to sit in so faces outwards. The rubber looks like dust seal and should be concave outwards.

Re: electric fuel pump?
Mine was fitted in July 2021 just before I owned it, hopefully it's one of the reliable ones. The invoice states fit genuine SU fuel pump and original pipe to carburettor I have cleaned the filter, connections and ground as routine maintenance. It did have the black tape around but I removed it when...

Re: electric fuel pump?
Thanks for the correction about the humped cover and the info for the op.
How did you identify mine is a recon pump? The documentation with the car has a garage receipt that just says replacement pump fitted. Is the aluminium tag that says electronic not SU/ Burlin original?

Re: electric fuel pump?
If standard the pump is under the bonnet, passenger side on side of battery compartment. It has no fuse with ignition on 12v to terminal and make sure earth is ok. With ignition on give it a tap and see if it starts clicking, it has points that maybe stuck. Mine is electronic type as it says on labe...

Or here is the T into original switch position, not as accessible maybe, although my vacuum advance position doesn't help but it could be repositioned.

Re: Hub identification disc brakes
Nearside checked, only one washer so the left hand threaded nut was tightening on end of thread but still had bearing play.with two washer fitted, same as off side, the taper bearing now adjusts normally. It was this that made it feel like parallel bearing, as fully tightened nut did not adjust the ...
