Re: Rocker arm identification.
Thanks Phil, looks like a good system you have set up there. If you could find a non-draining oil filter that would be of interest. Thanks.

Re: Rocker arm identification.
Thanks Stephen that's very useful to know. Yes I don't understand the position of the oil filter at all. It goes everywhere when it's changed!

Rocker arm identification.
Hello. Just wondering if someone in the know can advise about my rocker arms please. I have what I was told is a Marina 1275cc engine. I went to adjust the valve clearances today for the first time since I've owned it. I understand the gap to be 12 thou. When looking online at a YouTube video on how...

Re: Vacuum advance replacement
Thanks Phil. Martin mentioned that the Marina didn't have a vacuum advance but he didn't know why so I'm sure he'll be interested to know. I have a Marina manual I use alongside the Minor workshop manual. Thanks for providing the settings. Once I've swapped the parts over I'm going to pay for a prof...

Re: Vacuum advance replacement
Thanks for your replies. For interest I've spent a few days back and forth speaking with the distributor doctor. I gave him the serial number from my dizzy. Turns out it's from an Austin A60. He said if I'd have just gone for an ebay 'Lucas' badged 25d replacement vacuum it wouldn't have been any go...

Re: Vacuum advance replacement
Thanks for all your replies. I've messaged the distributor doctor to ask about a threaded version. If this is much more than the powerspark vacuum advance from ebay am I right in thinking I could cut the metal pipe, say 6" up from where it joins to the vacuum advance therefore removing the thre...

Vacuum advance replacement
Hi. My vacuum advance looks pretty shabby. The car runs OK but I've always doubted it. I tried the suck test (disconnected the metal vacuum pipe assembly at the carb). It wouldn't hold a vacuum and nothing moved inside the distributor. I've gone online to source a replacement but the end of mine is ...

Marina breather\carb question
Hello Novice mechanic so please excuse my questions. I've been reading Matt Tomkins book which I think is excellent. I've come across a couple of points which I'd appreciate help with. 1. I'm trying to identify the breather in my 1275 Marina engine. Is it the part that I've ringed in the photo? Do y...

Re: Marina diff drain plug
Thanks Phil. Yes its a minor gearbox. So can I just clarify if the car is on level ground I should remove the filler plug till excess oil has mostly drained out and that's the correct level for that diff? I may have put too much in yesterday. Does it matter if it's a little over filled? Still learni...

Re: Marina diff drain plug
Following on from my earlier question I'm just checking a couple of things if anyone has any thoughts please. 1. I unscrewed the diff drain plug on the back (only one there is) and I didn't anticipate oil would flow out. I thought it would be below the level of the drain plug? It was only a trickle ...

Re: Marina diff drain plug
Many thanks for the information. Seems an odd design?! I've just ordered an automotive syringe/vacuum pump following your advice and will try to get it out that way!

Marina diff drain plug
Hello, My minor has a Marina rear diff. I want to drain the oil and replace it. I can't find a drain plug and I can't find anything online or in the Haynes manual I have for a Marina about a drain plug. It just seems to have a filler plug in a similar place to a minor halfway up on the back. Does an...

Re: Front suspension- very hard ride.
Thanks Phil. Having never done it before, do I have to take the lower arms apart before attempting to move the adjuster plate? Some forums say yes, others no. I assume the hole in the chassis rail is elongated? This video seems quite good but he doesn't have front shocks https://www.youtube.com/watc...
