Re: Fuel not pumping through
I’ll keep my eye on it thank you. As you know it’s not instantly accessible as the boot shelves need to be unbolted and removed. I got the Moggy out today for the first time after fixing the rust problem and she went well. I had the usual problem of stopping but don’t want to fit modern brakes.

Re: Fuel not pumping through
Ok it’s working and thanks everyone for contributing. I eventually had to remove the fuel tank. With the fuel gauge sender removed I could see that there was a filter on the end of the pipe. I used fuel to flush out the tank ( by inverting it) several times. There was a lot of rust. I used a bicycle...

Re: Fuel not pumping through
After a mouthful of petrol and no proper syphon operation I have a hand operated syphon thingy arriving tomorrow. I really hope I can disconnect the fuel pipe and clear out the pipe with a track pump.

Re: Fuel not pumping through
Hard to believe but there seems to be no drain plug on the tank. I’ve brushed it all over with a wire brush and it’s completely smooth apart from where the fuel pipe is connected

Re: Fuel not pumping through
Thank you yes the hose is new. I bought it from ESM. Initially the old hose ( not that old actually) went via a Brouguet fuel catalyser but I’ve bypassed that and I’m intending to remove the transparent filter also but I need new, longer pipe to reach the float chamber

Re: Fuel not pumping through
Thanks all. I’m going to drain the petrol (there was a little bit in there from last year but I put 10 litres of new petrol in the tank a week ago) and check the Schrödinger filter. I fully expect to have to replace the pipe and the tank.

Re: Fuel not pumping through
Ok I sent my family out so I could check the flow. With the outlet disconnected from the float chamber there was some activity and the pump managed to fill the infamous transparent filter but only just before the ticking stopped. With the filter removed the result was the same and only got a trickle...

Re: Fuel not pumping through

Re: Fuel not pumping through
Stephen I think you’re right it is likely to be a blockage in the fuel line from the tank. Paul yes I still have spark when the engine stops and there is fuel in the float chamber but at the point of dying there is no fuel showing in the transparent fuel filter. I checked the filter in the pump and ...

Re: Fuel not pumping through
Thanks for suggestion - I tried this and it will tick very slowly with or without the outlet connected or disconnected. The fuel is fresh. The engine starts freely but soon runs out of fuel.

Re: Fuel not pumping through
Yes if everything is connected I can start the car but since the pump is not supplying enough fuel quickly enough the engine will stop after (about) 20 seconds. Then I wait (about) 10 seconds and I can restart and so on. I took the cover off the float chamber and it was full and the float valve was ...

Fuel not pumping through
Hello all I have a conundrum: my Morris Convertible (1962) has been laid up in my garage for a while. The problem I have is getting fuel through to the engine. The SU pump is new. When all the pipes are connected, the pump will tick at a decent rate but quickly slow down then stop and only tick occa...
