Re: Propshaft UJ issues
Thanks for the replies. Yes, he tried the old grease nipples but because of the greater angle at which they sit at now in the new uj’s they too foul. He re-assembled the uj’s with the nipples in the same place as the originals had them. The uj’s are those as supplied by East Sussex so I would assume...

Propshaft UJ issues
Hi all, can I pick your collective brains please? My neighbours, who don’t “do” the internet own a lovely 49 lowlight. They are changing the Propshaft UJ’s for new ones supplied by East Sussex MM. If you fit the grease nipples they provide with the UJ they foul on the Propshaft? Strangely the older ...

Radiator hose
My friends 49 minor 940 sidevalve with water pump needs a new radiator bottom tank to water pump hose, the one that fits behind the dynamo. Originally I believe it was metal with two rubber end connectors. The one currently on the car is two ends with two metal connectors to a rubber middle piece. I...

Re: Rear brake issues
There is a set of Ferodo rear shoes for sale but they advice 1957 to 1971 MM 1000. From reading the replies above am I correct in saying these will fit a 49 lowlight before paying a decent price for them?

Re: Rear brake issues

How he drove the car safely is another matter… Now we have fitted different shoes supplied by ESM the brakes work but don’t have much adjustment left on them. Probably b...

Re: Rear brake issues
I am new to the forum so wasn’t aware of the previous thread. So are the brakes on my neighbours 49MM lowlight different to later moggies or are the parts interchangeable from the various models?

Re: Rear brake issues
Thanks all, ESM supplied the correct shoes and the other bits. Good to know he does oversize snail cams as well. As an aside my neighbour said the new shoe retaining springs were impossible to fit. Someone had cut down the last ones and even using these he said it was a nightmare fitting them.

Rear brake issues
Hi all, just helped my neighbours acquire a lovely lowlight 1949 saloon. They don’t do the internet or forums so posting this query on their behalf. We have the car back but the brakes are appalling. Being an imp owner I am used to cars with drums all round and know that these systems can work more ...
