Re: Horn wiring - 1953 Series II
Hello all. I used the endoscope and that did at least help me to understand where the wire actually went. There were no apparent breaks in it as it went down the steering column and it seemed well attached (solder) to the copper ring. In the end, the wire was compromised near the horn push itself. I...

Re: Hello again
Good luck with it (I am an [inexperienced] owner of a 53 2 door also - not very original but it goes and stops).

Re: Horn wiring - 1953 Series II
Thanks all. I've got myself an endoscope so I'll be doing a bit more investigation over the next few days. Good of you to provide so much info - I'll have it with me while I'm upside down under the steering column......

Re: Horn wiring - 1953 Series II
Thank you John. I've had a word with Bryan Gostling (MMOC Series II spares guy - very helpful) and he seems to confirm what you've said. It seems that re-wiring the short length of wire from the horn push down might be a real pain (the bottom end of it not accessible - may have to remove steering wh...

Re: Horn wiring - 1953 Series II
Thanks to both. It looks as if I'll have to try the endoscope as the diagram provided doesn't seem to relate to what I can see on my car - could be my untutored eye though. I hope I don't have to take the steering wheel off - seems like a 'sledgehammer to crack a walnut', having read various threads...

Horn wiring - 1953 Series II
I wonder if there is anybody that can help with the above. I've spent a fair amount of time looking for relevant old threads on the chat (and online) but I don't seem to be able find an answer to my specific query as most/all of the information I've found seems to relate to the later Minors with an ...

Re: VIN numbers - Series II
Just as a footnote to this thread, I've had a reply from BMIHT. They agree that they have made a keyboard error and will be sending me a new certificate.

Re: VIN numbers - Series II
My plate looks pretty original to my unturored eye. I've sent a query over to BMIHT so we'll see what they say.....Thanks for your help everybody.

Re: VIN numbers - Series II
Thanks both. I was relying on the bulkhead plate. I'll see if I can find the number stamped on the shell. From what others have said though, the car can't have been built as late as October 1955 given the lack of a central speedo. Thanks again.

Re: VIN numbers - Series II
Many thanks to you both - I'll get back to BMIHT. Interesting to note that this wouldn't be the first time they've made a mistake.

VIN numbers - Series II
I'm a first time user here so please excuse any faux pas. I have what was advertised as a 1953 Series II Morris Minor. It has a VIN number beginning 223(???). I have just received a BMIHT Heritage Certificate stating that the vehicle was built in October 1955. It has the 'cheese grater' grill, split...
