Dont for gods sake try and release all that tension by popping off the top trunnion.......somethings bound to go wrong and damage something or someone.
Put the car back upright, and use the tried and tested method. :D

Ive just fitted a whole new set of poly bushes to the rear of my car.....and new leaf springs for that matter. Considering all the mounting points (spring hangers, chassis rails etc) are all new i.e. welded in by me. Everything bolted on very straightforward. No fitting issues at all. Oh and the bus...

Master cylinder replacement

Just got round to looking at my master cylinder as its got to go back in before the torsion bars go on. Mines the older style 7/8" bore one, and annoyingly its had it. The bores badly pitted and the piston is scratched to hell. I see that the only replacements you can get are the 13/16" bo...

Get the guys details verified, get as much evidence as possible and hammer the chap. He deserves it for being so obnoxious and arrogant in the first place.

My car originally had 7 leaf springs on but Ive got a set of nearly 5 leave ones, this should be fine shouldnt it? Any tips for rebuilding the rear sus...

I managed to remember which torsion bar was which today luckily! The one with the serverely worn eybolt pivot (or whatever the correct term is) is the one that goes on the nearside! It seems to me that setting the ride height will be a bummer. So is it best to just get them to a certain height, then...

Thanks for all the replies. I see Ive opened a bit of a can of worms here. I noticed someone mentioned about marking the torsion bars when removing them. I didnt do this when I took mine off nearly 2 years ago now (young and enthusiastic 16 yr old.......). Could this pose a problem when refitting th...

3. If you need to ask here, you probably don't know enough about suspension design and vehicle dynamics to know what effect your mods will have.

Kevin

Hmm lowering doesnt sound popular? Wondering if I should or not now. The kits from ESM lower the rear by 1 1/2" I suppose I could slightly shorten the U-bolts and re-tap them to give say a 1" lower instead?

Brilliant, thanks for the help everyone!

Couple more questions. What primer should I use on the bare metal? Etch or zinc rich?
Also, Im only spraying the engine bay at the moment so will 1ltr of topcoat and 1ltr of primer be enough?
