Re: Total clutch failure!

Ok so as promised here are the extra photos. It has a carbon thrust bearing that has worn right down and then the back plate to the thrust bearing has started to rub onto the fingers. SO.... verdict, has someone fitted a carbon release bearing to what should be a roller bearing master cylinder? If I...

Re: Total clutch failure!

Hi Phil, I will get some more pictures tonight so we can find out whats up. Its hard to explain but there are two parts still on the fork. Although the one half looks exactly like what should be on the clutch fingers (a large round block with three flats) but this is clearly badly damaged/worn and n...

Re: Total clutch failure!

Thank you for all your help and advice guys! Ok so its definitely a carbon thrust plate as the two halves are still there. However if I push the clutch fork back to the released position (As if you were driving along) and then let go, it slowly springs back to gently put a bit of pressure on the clu...

Hi Phil, Thanks for taking the time to reply! Ok so it a carbon thrust bearing but no sign of any plate that sits over the fingers? Just to make it clear the two halves of the carbon thrust bearing is there (although look a bit rough) should there be an extra plate between the thrust bearing halves ...

Re: Vintage Trailer Resto

Cheers for all the positive replies guys :D Yeah I liked the strangeness of the wings and they look good painted up. Needs another coat of blue which should bring it up a bit more glossy and then replace the rear lights for some nice vintage ones. Since it was repaired its been used a lot! Not only ...

Re: Vintage Trailer Resto

We sorry for the late reply but its been a hectic week!! After collecting the trailer on Thursday night (19th) I decided that we would take it away with us on holiday to France Jablines (East of Paris) so with just a few days to restore it, pack and get the Morris ready I had my work cut out! Here a...

Vintage Trailer Resto

Just though I would share with you guys a little trailer I was given. Not sure if its a genuine vintage trailer or just made to look like one but it should look nice behind the Morris when its all been rebuilt. Only collected it yesterday and so far just stripped it of all the rotten wood (all of it...

Re: Tapping noise coming from rocker gear

Yeah that's not a bad shout! Ill pick up a can of engine flush tonight. Not sure what oil was used but im guessing some very old school stuff. I race Honda C90s and I had an engine once that had previously been run on very old school mineral oil that had got way too hot then left for years, dried al...

Re: Tapping noise coming from rocker gear

ok so some interesting and fairly conclusive findings to report! First I did a compression test, I did it cold so not sure if it would be an accurate representation of the piston ring health but just wanted to rule out head gasket, readings from cylinder 1 backwards were all about 155psi and the bac...

Re: Tapping noise coming from rocker gear

The only think that made me think it wasn't the rockers was that it sounds faster than that. When you listen to it the ticking sounds like it would be in time with the piston moving rather than a rocker. When you put the screwdriver on the rocker gear bracket and listen to it, it is very loud, defin...
