Re: Clutch problems with 5 speed kit.
Standard 1275 midget clutch as far as I know. It's been on for a while behind the standard moggy box. The only thing I have changed is to fit the Ford/Mg hybrid driven plate but everything seems to be too small diameter to clear the Ford main shaft. I'm thinking of grinding a little off each clutch ...

Clutch problems with 5 speed kit.
Ok got myself a Ford 5 speed kit and am in the process of fitting it to the back of my Midget 1275 engined minor. I now find the main shaft of the gearbox is too big to go through the hole in the slip ring of the clutch basket, so I ground through it reasoning I could convert it to a roller release ...

Re: how do i date my car?
Sometimes if your very lucky there is a paper label tied to the wireing loom above the steering column under the dash (stand upside down in the passenger foorwell) with a date that tends to be within a month of the car being built.

Re: Pretentious Experts
My minor van had a rear cross member shaped from an old railway sleeper! which I have to say was pretty rough must have taken him longer to carve than it would have done to stitch a new metal one in. Here it is (upside down) the notch is where the numberplate light was fitted and obviously the cuts ...

Re: Help identifying carbs
Thanks mate but I've tried the Ford sidevalve people and they tell me they are 6.5'' centres on the manifold not 6'' so thats why I'm thinking flathead Minor.

Help identifying carbs
OK picked up this set of carbs a few years ago now supposedly for a minor but although the centres of the manifold is 6'' the flanges are way to small to be an A series so I'm wondering if they are a set for a sidevalve? http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s54/leyther8008/carbs003.jpg http://i149.pho...

Re: Highlight or Lowlight? - What is your Favourite and why?
From what I remember the headlights are 5-1/4 inch units used in quite a few cars and still availiable, the headlights are just held into the grill by the rims there isn't any backing 'pod' as such. I'm sure a pair could be adapted but the original system is really simple when you actually see it. I...

Re: Could the Mosquito be back???!
Another view of it set in a racing chassis with some more obvious minor bits witness the suspension legs motor is a flat two but no idea what. Its certanly an odd one appears to have water cooled bores but air cooled heads.
