when fitting an alternator on my 1098 I fitted the 1275 crank pulley
that came with it, how can I set up the timing, the engine is pinking a little
I also think I bought new duff points as the points gap starts to decrease quite quickly, vac advance works fine.

I have new points etc, the advance and retard is working under vacuum. the car has recently began stalling when slowing down for lights etc. I am not fa...

My daughter has been a club member for a year now, she is only 17 but has a genuine passion for the Morris Minor. WE have restored a 1971 2 saloon for her, she has welded, assembled and painted with my supervision, and the end result is a very respectable car, that should last her years, she has jus...

well.I made a right hash of the brake set up. when I stipped out the master cylinder originally the push rod was bent, when straightened it snapped .so I fabricated a new one and got carried away when setting the ajustment so the piston couldn't return far enough. However after all that hassle the ...

thanks to eveyone for the advice, it all points to an air leak, I'll start with disconecting and seeing how it runs without, then working my way back. I have been restoring this morris for my daughter for almost a year ( a lot longer than originally planned), hopefully we are on the final stretch, I...

lumpy tickover with servo fitted
fitted a remote servo lockheed type, with drilled manifold new hoses etc, I have a lumpy and reluctant tickover, is it a matter of adjusting the tickover to suit the extra vacuum from the servo unit, there are no obvious leaks in the hoses manifold / gaskets they are all new. According to the instr...

wiper motor problem
putting back together my daughters 71 minor I have come across a problem with the parking of the arms when switching off the wipers, they park at the top rather than at the bottom, I tried the obvious moving the arms, this meant wiping the bonnet instead, all I have done was to remove the motor to r...

I have figured out how to solve this, so it may serve to help others. having stripped the doors down for refurbishment, I compared both locks, I removed the hockey stick from the passenger side lock and it fits straight into the drivers side, and works just fine, there is even a hole ready for it in...

I am fitting an alternator to a standard 1098, I have taken it and the brackets from a midget 1275 engine (which one day will be fitted) Can I use the crankshaft pulley from the 1275, it looks a much stronger item than the 1098, and suits the alternator, if I can use it is the thread left or right h...

mintex 247 discs, POLO I think drilled to take additional counter screws, not essential but my choice, milled 4mm off the face of the 10mm plate where the caliper sits, then welded a 4mm plate to the rear to stiffen back up, you could start with 12mm plate. machined 2mm off the face of the hub, fil...
