Re: Slot or Peg drive?

Funny you should mention that, There are some pistons on the bay with rings and clips for 80 quid and slightly dished. They are plus ten thou so might be a good opportunity to refresh the bores. How much should i expect to pay for a rebore roughly?

Re: Slot or Peg drive?

Thanks for the tips, I think this cam has the same lift but opens the valves longer. Will check with a vernier. Yes I have new followers, new rocker shaft pretty much never everything! Only thing I need now is big end and main bearings but need to wait until the crank gets back from being reground, ...

Re: Slot or Peg drive?

Yes - I'm building an engine from scratch. Something I've always wanted to do. Renewing everything and building it with a performance increase in mind. got it stripped to component level at the moment, and now starting to accumilate all the bits I need to put it all back together again. The cam itse...

Slot or Peg drive?

Hi everybody. I am in the process of rebuilding a 1098 engine for my Traveller. I have ordered by mistake, a slot drive camshaft, but I've also ordered by mistake a slot drive oil pump. Will these two work together in my engine that originally had a peg drive oil pump? Thanks in advance, Webbnuts.

Re: Drifting

There is a difference between doing a burnout in a french hot hatch terrorising residents and hanging the DONT SWEAR OR YOU WILL BE BANNED out in the wet in a 40 year old Moggy. Maybe.

Diff identification

Hi all. hope you've all been out in the sunshine today in the Minors! Quick question, I have the standard diff in my Traveller, but am building a new engine for it which will hopefully have a bit more grunt, and as a result I'd like to change the diff to the one that gives lower revs at higher speed...

Whooop whoop!

Well, I've spent 7 months working on "Blackie", and my hard work was rewarded yesterday when the MOT inspector not only issued a pass certificate, but also commented on the good condition of the underside! There were two advisories, both of which were only tyres! Having an MOT meant myself...

Re: Electronic Ignition

My dizzy says 45 D4. Is this a later unit or something? All I know is the electronic ignition I bought won't fit it! Bah! It doesn't have the adjustment on the vacuum advance that my old 1000 used to have. Would I be better getting an originl 25d or sticking with the 45d? Are there any advantages/di...

Re: Seatbelt shenanigans

Hi thanks for the answers. Those pictures really help. That's pretty much how I had them, but thought it couldn't be right due to the twist!

Thanks for taking the photos.

Seatbelt shenanigans

Hi all. I don't suppose anyone has a picture of how the front seatbelts are supposed to go? Having taken them out some six months ago for the resto work I can't for the life of me figure out which way they go round. Tried all sorts of ways. All I have is the inertia unit, a top link and the other en...

Electronic Ignition

Hi Everybody. My Morris has its MOT due in a few weeks, and its still running with a taped up points spring! (Kept shorting out against the dizzy when hot and cutting out). Anywhooo, I'd like to fit an electronic ignition. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for both the supply of said ...

Cutting Corners

Hi All. Today I had to shape a plate of metal to fit round a corner - the wheel arch. The only way I could cut the shape was to hack bits out and then smooth the curve with a flap disc. Is there a tool I could buy or a technique I dont know about that will help me cut curves in steel? Thanks for any...

Thanks Jonathon. I think I'll do as you suggest. One question though, how can I clear up the surface rust on the top of the wheelarch behind the kidney panel? Also, I'd like to cover the area behind the kidney with waxoyl when the welding is complete, what would be the best way to do this? Thanks fo...

Is the kidney panel the whole panel with the pressed shaped in? Is the small plate a previous repair? How hard would it be to do the entire kidney panel?

Thanks in advance.
