Re: 1954 split screen

XVU followed by digits was issued from May 1959, however digits preceding XVU is a recent DVLA issue. Go to the DVLA vehicle check website and type in a few similar registrations - you'll see what I mean! Many current DVLA re-issue numbers seem to use 'X' as one of the letters - presumably as these ...

Re: What is it?

The plant is Verbascum thapsus, commonly known as great mullein or common mullein, hence 'mullein moth' :D

Re: Getting desperate!

Tell them that you have information on the early history of the car. That might swing it.

Good luck.

chassis number should be stamped on bulkhead just to the right of bulge where bonnet pull rod comes through......unless it has been ground off..... :(

Classic car snobbery

Have been doing a good few miles around West Sussex and Hampshire this weekend in the Morris - lots of classic cars about- probably coming from and going to the Goodwood Revival. I always wave to other cars I pass but why do owners of 'expensive' cars never wave back? Once you buy a posh car do you ...

Re: 1959 split screen??

There could be a number of reasons why the registration date is given as 1959 - import / export, log book error etc, however the chassis number will give a definite year. Nice Stewart and Ardern plate!

Re: series 2 with original 1098 engine

Just to clarify this is not my car :D

I wouldn't ever spend 15K on a Morris Minor, - in fact I don't think I have spent that much in over 30 years of minoring - spares, servicing and cars!!

series 2 with original 1098 engine

Can anyone provide more info more about these supposedly rare cars fitted with a 1098 engine from new (whilst all others were fitted with 803's?). Never heard about this one before, and I've read most of the Morris books! Andy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/morris-minor-1098-splitscreen-/172293015964?has...

Isn't the chassis number on later cars stamped in the drivers side floor?

Re: LOST 1963 MORRIS TRAVELLER

If the number has been put on retention then yes, it would be all but impossible to trace the actual vehicle, but as I said, the DVLA database still shows it on a Morris Minor.
Only a call to National Numbers will solve the mystery :D

Re: LOST 1963 MORRIS TRAVELLER

It would appear that numbers held on retention do not show up on vehicle searches; for example on the TFL site are listed as 'no vehicle details were found'
