Re: Mixture Problems (too rich)

Did you change the needle in the carb to suit the pcv valve? My understanding is you are likely to require a leaner needle over the operating range with a pcv? I am still experimenting but found my van was better once I changed the needle post pcv valve being fitted.

Re: 1275 installation clutch release

Have you checked the clutch relay shaft bearings? The bearings fail in then ends and you slowly loose the clutch as thr pivot point drifts forwards.

Re: Lighting

On my 63 4 door I have small flashing white lights with side. I have replaced the bulbs for led ones. This has enabled me to keep white side lights, but have orange flashers in the same location . When the side lights are on and you turn the flashers on the white side light goes off and you get an o...

I found fitting one to a standard 1098 made a noticible difference to the smoothness of the engine.

Re: mini heater and heated rear window

I have fitted the mini element to a standard minor box. The nlet/outlet were in a different position so I had to drill thr case. It's not too dificuilt to do. Not sure how much difference it makes as I have only ever had the heater with this element, but the heater works well in my van. I up sized a...

Re: Heater

The heater control valve is often at fault. The fail closed and prevent water circulating around the heater circuit. You can see if this is the issue by holding the water pipes that feed and return from the heater at the back of the engine bay when thr car is hot.

The valve could just be closed too

Re: No Fuel to fuel pump.

Just to add to my earlier comments my pump run fast and did not prime. As suggested above this could be an air leak but in my case I think it was the valves not sealing while dry. Once sprayed with oil the system primed and I have never had to repeat the procedure This is for priming a rebuilt dry s...

Re: No Fuel to fuel pump.

Before you do anything to drastic I have found the valves don't always seal in the pump when dry. This is probably really bad practice but last time this happened to me I took the flexi fuel hose off and squirted some wd40 into the pump. The system primed immediately after this. I am sure others may...

Re: Interior courtesy light

As above I would take it off and clean up thr contacts. It's Lilley to be 50 years of accumulated dirt making thr connections poor.

I would recommended swapping thr bulb out for a Led version. These are much much brighter than the original and use less current and produce less heat.

Re: LED Indicator help

Assuming you have standard leds and no thr ballast type you will need to change the flasher unit in the hazards. If its the same as mine you will need a 2 polen electdonoc unit which I was able to fit in the same place as the original. This was pretty cheap I recall. £3 is from ebay a few years ago

Re: Break light switch removal, stuck

As above. They can be quite awkward to remove. I recall I was able to stop mine rotating by wedging the t piece with a block in place of pliers. When replacing make sure you don't get left with an air bubble in this leg. It will no bleed out in my experience and causes spongy brakes. You can get an ...

Re: Oil from breather pipe

The above description is probably a 1275 engine with the canister on the timing cover.

Regarding your car, does it have a canister on thr tappet covers? If so has it been cleaned out and where is it connected?

I have this on mine which I have connected via a Pcv valve to thr inlet manifold

Having had 2 windscreens go over the years, I cannot recommend enough the benefits of a modern laminated screen. Not sure what year your pick up is. If its a later one it would have a olil catchpot on the tappet cover likely plumbed into the carb. I would check this line as a leak in this could created your observed issues
