Getting rid of those noisy rattles in the door..
Just been having a play around in the car after everyday I get an annoying rattle in the doors and it seemed pushing the doorcard slightly stopped it. -Take the door cards off (undo 4 screws for door handle (2) & door catch & window winder) and pull the card with its clips -Tighten the screw...

Re: Choke mechanism - Is it Ok?
That was an option. I did bear in mind the possible issues you mentioned about float being on the wrong side. Now I have 2 carbs with one as a spare which is good. As mentioned I'd rather have a Carb the same way round as previous but bigger than one the wrong way :p

Some good ideas there - cheers.
I will see how I get on with the K&N. I am a lover of good engine sounds I put a K&N on the parents Vectra V6 which sounds gooorgeous and when I had mine temporarily on the old carb, it sounded nice but time will tell as its a daily driver

Re: Choke mechanism - Is it Ok?
BMC - I have a new 'right way round' HS4 its way. This is because the cables didnt quite reach the new carb linkages & in case of any issues, I wanted to be able to swap straight back to the old HS2 rather than changing cable lengths. I will transfer the AAA needle over to it (if it hasn't alrea...

Re: Choke mechanism - Is it Ok?
It makes sense though, I see where the problem lies.
Maybe it'll come in use, I can't accelerate hard so I save fuel.. ;).
I'll see what happens and cheers for the heads up

As long as you are well and not in permanent pain. Hopefully boredom of the hatchback overcomes but all the best in the meantime

Choke mechanism - Is it Ok?
Hi, I have rebuilt the choke mechanism & jet on my new HS4 carb. I have put a new (non-waxstat) jet on the HS4 and used the jet linkage from my HS2. The two carbs are opposite (HS4 float is towards the rear/flywheel side of the engine, opposite to the standard HS2). It seems to work properly but...

Re: Battery draining - interior light?
Hi Katy,
I'll try this tonight. The battery is new and not at fault - trouble is it takes a day or two to drain with this problem so will be a long investigation.
Cheers, Steve

Re: Battery draining - interior light?
:( Worked last night (obviously on battery power) & got in the car today only for the battery to be completely flat. I would've brought it to work but I didn't fancy being stranded on no battery power and not even being able to crank it (been there). So what exactly am I looking for regarding it...

HS4 Carb Cone filter - which one?
Hi. Slowly getting on to fitting the HS4 carb to my car. One quick question, MiniSport have 3 options: K&N Cone : £54 K&N 'Style' Cone (not genuine) - £30 Pipercross Cone - £38 For the price difference - would I notice a difference if I went for the cheaper K&N style over the genuine K&a...

Re: Exhaust Burbling/Farting
I am loving this thread! Ive got a standard engine and exhaust however bought one of those exhaust end's what are usually seen on Fiestas/Saxos. 3 inches wide it adds a great noise when farting. When accelerating it also sounds deeper rather than peashooter-style noise. Great in tunnels ;)

Battery draining - interior light?
Afternoon, It is nice working on your car at the weekend but I can't find this problem.. Driving home in the dark on Friday, my interior light suddenly came on slightly dim. I have an LED one fitted and it was very dim so not annoying. It still turned on full brightness when you open the door/flick ...

Nice. Why does it go 3 to 2 to 1 rather that 3 straight to 1?

Only chopping I made was a hole in the glovebox for the wires to the headunit. All other holes are in the car
