Re: Fuel Pump will not stop ticking
Thanks for the comments. I didn't have a new fuel line to put on, but cut each end of the old one and reattached it. This stopped the leaking from the fuel line, so I guess that was the problem! This anyway doesn't seem to be a good quality fuel line, so I think needs to be replaced. However, a whil...

Fuel Pump will not stop ticking
Hi everyone, After not having driven my Morris for a long time, I am now trying to get it running again. When I turn the ignition on, the fuel pump ticks continuously and does not cut out. This leads to fuel leaking from BOTH ends of the fuel line connecting the pump to the float chamber. As fuel is...

Re: Fuel leak from pump - help needed!
I should be able to get some new fuel line tomorrow, so hopefully will be able to get it running again. Out of interest, do you know the mechanism by which the fuel pump stops ticking when the float chamber is full? I tried to find out on the internet, but couldn't figure it out.

Re: Fuel leak from pump - help needed!
Thanks for getting back to me. I just had another look, and you are right, it is not coming from the pump, but from where the fuel line joins the pump. The fuel seems to be coming from these joins at each end rather than the middle. Tightening the jubilee clips had no effect. It is not just a slow l...

Fuel leak from pump - help needed!
Hello, I have just been trying to get my Morris going after about 6 months without being driven. When the key is turned, the fuel pump continuously clicks, and does not stop. There is also excessive fuel leak from the fuel pump, as well as the fuel line going to the carburettor filler. The fuel line...

I gave the fuel pump a few whacks and it didn't do anything, then while I was checking the spark plugs, the fuel pump suddenly jumped into life! I was then able to start 'er up using the handle. :D Would you advise me to clean the plugs and pump, or will they clean themselves now the car is up and r...

Car won't start!!!
Hello, my moggy has been left standing for the last two months while I have been at university. I tried starting it today, but to no avail. The battery quickly died, so I hooked up another. I can hear the starter motor turning the engine, it is just not starting. Any ideas on what I can do?? Thanks,...

I just tried shorting the solenoid, and nothing happened. There were not even any sparks. I also connected a jump lead from the battery to the starter, and nothing happened. How is the motor earthed. Could this be a problem? I listened again to what is happening. There is a click when you turn the k...

I'll have a go at moving the servo tomorrow. The starter makes a click, but does not turn. The first time this happened, I fixed it by turning the bolt on the end of the starter a bit. After that, it started fine a couple of times. It is just clicking again now, but turning the bolt no longer works....

I have completely removed the bolts, and the cable. I can move it out enough so I can see the bendix inside, but the pinion thingy is too long and is impossible to take out completely before the motor gets stuck. Do you move the starter up/down/left when you remove it? On further examination, there ...

Removing the starter
My starter motor is broken, and I want to remove it to replace/repair. I have read the other posts that say to just undo the two bolts and power cable and it should just slide out.
I have done this, but it does not just slide out! Do you have to remove the distributor or something as well?

Its natural colour on both sides. It was very cheap, so probably isn't good quality, but has still made a noticeable difference. I might try and stuff some in the boot behind the back seats as well. What kind of material do you use for the bonnet? I've got some self adhesive eDead material, but it i...

History of my Morris
Does anyone know how I can find out what my car was origionally used for. Its a black 1966 saloon. There was no history with it!. This is my first minor, so I am not really sure what is normal and what is not! It has the folding seats on sliders, indicator stick on left hand side, and no overriders....
