Re: Ring gear teeth
mrben The starter Bendix is serviceable. It needs a good clean to get rid of the oil. Once clean do not lubricate. You will need a special tool to remove the Bendix if you decide to go that route. Any other method of removing the Bendix is dangerous as there is a lot of pent up energy in the fitted...

Re: Ring gear teeth
Yes shame about the missing tooth! Photo of the starter teeth hopefully attached. I think this one is ok but I was planning to rebuild another starter with new bendix/gear and fit that when the engine goes back in. As an aside, this starter appears to have been contaminated by a leaking heater valve...

Ring gear teeth
Hello folks.
Apologies in advance for asking what I'm sure to some is an obvious question.
Please could someone have a look at the following pictures and tell me if the ring gear pictured is servicable? Wear is similar all the way around.
Many thanks.

Re: Carb parts
Thanks both. I've seen the Burlen site but am currently none the wiser. Seems my ADE needle is a .090" size. There are a number of .090" jets, all with part numbers beginning LZX and I'm unsure how to cross reference to the AUD4759 I currently have in order to get a suitable replacement. ...

Good info, many thanks for that Phil.philthehill wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 7:39 pm Look at the letters/numbers on the float chamber tab and then go back to the Burlen web site and follow through.
If in doubt post the float chamber number on here.
The float chamber number tag is the key that opens the door to the SU spare parts store.

Carb parts
I have a 1966 Minor with a 1275 engine from a '68 Midget. A fuel leak recently developed from the pipe seal at the bottom of the float bowl. With that sorted, I now have another leak that seems to be coming from a deteriorated pipe to the jet, presumably on its last legs before I disturbed it. On ta...

Re: Rear spring hanger replacement
Thanks very much for the info, Bob. I'll try to send him a picture of the part - thats a good idea. He says he has worked on loads of these (been a welder for 37 years with scars to prove it!), and things he mentioned when we were discussing Minors certainly backed this up. He talked about measuring...

Rear spring hanger replacement
Hi folks, my Minor needs a new rear spring hanger piece on the o/s. The pin that the damper arm link attaches to has come loose due to corrosion, plus it has been patched before. The welder chap that is doing it for me has asked me to get the panel that goes on the other side and extends up a bit. I...

Re: Vale: Roy Allingham (BMCecosse)
What sad news. A real loss, not least to us here in the Minor world. I strongly suspect Roy had forgotten more about Minors than I will ever know. His advice, help and support over the 15+ years that I have had my Minor has been very much appreciated.
RIP Roy

Re: Starter motor teeth
Thanks for the info. I did wonder why it was turning over more slowly, didn't consider the effect of the different number of teeth.

Re: Starter motor teeth
9T or 10T? When I bought the current starter about 10 years ago it had 10T against the original with 9T. I was very doubtful that it was a straight swap, but the Lucas man assured me that it was, and it certainly has turned out to be so. The only difference is that the cranking speed is noticeably ...

Re: Starter motor teeth
D'oh! I did buy a new starter motor. Would this likely prolong the life of the teeth on the flywheel, or shorten it? The old starter has 10 teeth, the new one has 9 if that makes any difference. Best pic I have of the flywheel: http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m237/jonus_02/Minor/flywheel_zpsqemwm...

Starter motor teeth
Folks, can I ask, how do the teeth look on this starter motor? I was thinking perhaps I should replace it, but I'm not sure how they are supposed to look. The teeth on a new one look to have a similar profile that suggested perhaps this one is still ok. http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m237/jonus_...

Clutch fork bush
Folks, quick question if I may; should a new bronze bush be a really tight fit in a clutch fork? The bush needs fitting to the fork with the help of a vice, then the bolt needs a lot of persuasion to go through the newly bushed fork. I can't see the fork moving freely about it's pivot and am inclind...

Re: Gearbox noise - engine & box now removed
Update time. Spent a while in the garage over the weekend connecting everything back up. Engine and 'box slid back into place in a matter of minutes, its everything else that takes the time! I'd decided not to change the clutch to rod operation at this point, but to get it back on the road with the ...
