Re: They Just Can't Wait....

'Twas ever thus.. Drive anything slightly older than most on the road, or be on a driving lesson, or in a classic and everything else on the road HAS to get past. The times Ive been overtaken through 30 limits only to be held up by the same vehicle when the speed limit increases are too numerous to ...

Re: riley one point five

Had a few Wollseley 1500s over the years. Very nice to drive. The diffs are quite high ratio so they can bowl along quite well. Lovely gearchange. Ive seen them with MGB 1800 engines and overdrive boxes fitted. The front panel looks good on that one, they are tricky to find.

Good luck with it.

Re: Draining gearbox oil

I did have this problem with a Rover P6 sump plug. The plug was well rounded off and all stillsons and mole grips were doing was shaving more metal off the plug. I ended up cutting a slot in it and using a spanner, edge on, to turn it out.

Re: No temp sender?

The dual oil pressure/water temp gauge as fitted to MGs for years. Midgets had them so they do work well with A series engines. The capillary pipe is fragile though. When fitting it to the head use loads of copper grease.

I don't remember ever buying a wheel cylinder that didn't have bleed nipple included. Is this a new development?

Quite right too! And a suitable shirt and tie..

Minors are actually quite spacious inside, I'm not small by any means and have no problems.

Always nice to see a four door Minor saved, they have always seemed a bit rarer. Good luck with your project.

Re: Disconnecting the brake line from the brake cylinder

Copper pipe is quite unsuitable. It can fracture very easily. Cupro-nickel is the stuff to use without any doubt!

Re: Morris as a daily driver.

Minors are fine for daily use. So are Heralds for that matter. Ive driven a few of each as daily runners over the years. Minis of course are excellent but are getting very popular with thieves now that their values have gone silly. Minor values have not changed for years.

Re: Maintaining and owning a Morris Minor

Welcome! Well done for choosing the best small car ever made and not following the usual saxo/corsa crowd! A Minor will teach you so much about car maintenance, skills which you will never forget. None of it is difficult and it is all very satisfying to do. There is always plenty of advice on here, ...
