Re: Dealer sticker
I've had stickers from Isaydingdong on my car in the blazing hot tropical sun for the better part of 7 years. They haven't even faded. That one will last you long enough.

Re: Temperature sensor
Check with Mini parts suppliers. I have a thermostat housing with a threaded sender hole which works well. The hose to the radiator ends up being at a slightly different angle but causes no problems.

Worn piston rings.
New rings and big end bearings fitted, runs like a charm. Why do we do this to ourselves?

Persistent Problem at Speed.
G'day All, I've been wrestling with my car for the better part of a month now and I'm at my wits end. At the start of August I went camping in my mog which involved approximately 90km of highway driving. It did the trip down beautifully, sitting on about 90km/h the whole way. 2 days later on the ret...

How do you remove body wrap?
G'Day All, My father has a traveller that has been covered in some sort of vinyl body wrap. It was used in a Barclays Bank promo video a couple of years ago and the wrap is the Barclays' blue, whatever that is. Underneath it appears to be almond green. There are inevitably some body work issues goin...

Re: Your Favourite Roads, Trips, Car Holidays etc
This won't be helpful to you folks in the UK (unless you come for a visit), but my favourite driving road trip is one that I take with my son every year. We leave Darwin and head down the Stuart Highway to a spot called Coomalie Creek to mark VJ Day (or Victory in the Pacific to use it's more politi...

Re: Seat belt anchor points . On 1956 split screen
I fitted retractable seat belts on the back seat for my kids. I mounted the reels in the middle of the parcel shelf and the buckles attached under the rear seat to the inside of the wheel arches. You'll need to fit reinforcing plates under the nuts but most kits I've seen come with them. If you moun...

Re: bind weed
Reminds me of a song: The fragrant honeysuckle spirals clockwise to the sun, And many other creepers do the same. But some climb anti-clockwise, the bindweed does, for one, Or Convolvulus, to give her proper name. Rooted on either side a door, one of each species grew, And raced towards the window-l...

Oil Primer Plug
G'day All,
Does anyone reckon you could take out the oil primer plug and put an oil temp sender in there? My concern is that the passage is too shallow for a capillary and oil flow would be constricted.
Any thoughts?

Re: Complete loss of spark.
Problem solved. In my haste to fit the new condensor on the side of the road with two crying children in the car and traffic wizzing past my backside, I connected the wire on top of the plastic insulator instead of underneath it where it needed to be in contact with the LT wire. Schoolboy error. Che...

Complete loss of spark.
Decelerating to a stop at a roundabout the engine suddenly lost power and then stopped. Unable to restart. So far I have changed the condenser and rotor arm, I have changed the coil and changed it back with nil result. From what I can see I am getting no spark out of either coil which makes me think...

Re: Fitting seatbelt
I didn't travel with my children in the car when they were infants ie. in a rearwards facing capsule. mainly because the caspsule touched the front seats which is apparently a no-no. Once they were old enough to sit up, I installed lap-sash inertia reel seat belts using spreader plates as described ...
