yep here they are from a couple of years back...

No.1 190 psi
No.2 150 psi
No.3 180 psi
N0.4 185 psi

I might have done that one cold though not hot..

its a 1275 head which I assume is higher compression? yes so lower compression on no.2 but the broken plug was on no.3 I'm not so sure in a previous thread of mine I had lower readings overall and a lower no.2 cylinder... ill have a look. Anyway my issue is why do the plugs keep breaking down..... a...

Could it be the coil (!)occasionally sending out too much voltage and turning the plugs?

Well I've done the compression test and from front to back we have 190 160 190 190 all plugs were a bit sooty so I've leaned him off a bit more. I added oil to the 160 reading which went up to 200 and rear cylinder went up to 220 when I added oil. Weirdly ever since I changed that plug and adjusted ...

So to carry out compression test, should engine be hot or cold? And how many time do you wind it over before you take a reading?

I submitted the first post from my phone and some parts didn't make much sense so I have just re done it!
Ill do a compression test and let you know. But any feedback on elec ignitions wold be good please?

Howdy, Ive got an electronic ignition installed on horrace the 1098. The other day it started back firing for no reason. I've stopped this now....I think by running it lean. thanks for the help guys, interestingly I followed a pick up with tilt today from Mayfield east sussex to cross in hand but then unfortunately had to turn off as I was going to wait till he pulled over and then I could of had a look and a chat. It was a green one .

pick up canvas back rope hooks

I'm just having the canvas back fitted to horrace... and need a bit of info and guidance on where and what to put the rope fixing hooks. Anyone with some pics out there please?
Also I can only find self colour (to be painted ) hooks from ESM anyone know of some stainless jobs?

Surely though if the valves are seating Ok no air would get through? Noticed today the missing is unbearable when the engine has warmed up after 30 mins.....

Well we now have a great idle and great top end but...... He misses a beat when accelerating and I have 2 black plugs (still 2&3) and 2 white plugs! 1&2

Thanks for the offer big Jim but I'm near lewes in east Sussex so miles away! Ill clean out the threads on the head, and check to make sure sealing surfaces are ok :wink:

well, whaddya know..... turns out that no.2 and no.3 cylinders are leaking air from around the spark plug! I heard a hissing noise and squirted a bit of wd40 around the plugs and hey presto they bubbled away. Now... Im not sure i should be chuffed as i found the problem or peeved as i dont know how ...

thought oil was greasy black not sooty black? i figured it was too much fuel or not enough air?

Ill check the gaps tomorrow, but i just changed the plugs and the old plugs were sooty on 2 and 3 now the new plugs are sooty as well so cant be just those plugs.
