Re: tappet clearance

Thanks Roy knew I could rely on you. I think it was page 15 but can't find it right now it might still be in the van and it is after midnight. I was amazed how easily it started on the handle, usually takes quite a few pulls, Must have been low on compression for quite a while.

Re: Look what I found

Luckily I have a spare engine so thats the route I am going down. Although they dont look it in the picture the grooves can be measured in mm's rather than thou so I dont think it will even be re-boreable. And yes the water loss was a leak at the other end of the block, probably caused because the h...

Pickup heater hose

Found a leaky hose on the pickup, its a 950 and my question is should the piece of metal pipe be there by the battery box or is it supposed to be a straight run from the pipe on the head to the heater and someone has just repaired a leaky hose with it?[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=13081...

Mystery Machine Tool

Need any engineers out there to tell me what this is. My dad used to be a toolmaker and we found this amongst a set of micrometers and a setting out tool. I know how to use the mic's and they will come in usefull to measure the journals and bores on my mog when I strip the engine. This however is so...

Re: car battery condition advice

The battery on my pickup was left for 3 years and didn't have enough life in it to even work the oil and ignition lights, gave it an overnight charge and it started the car fine and I am still using it a year and a half later so charge em up and put on a car with the coil disconnected and see if the...
