Re: Petrol Tank sender unit
i have played with a 1980 ford fiesta 2 years ago and found the stabilizer to be equivalent to 5 volts to give a full tank reading, but the bmc stuff {morris] is equivalent to about 10 volts, dont forget the old type stabilizers actually pulse the power on and off, the on time is less when the suppl...

Re: fuel Gauge split screen
that is right, if you connect the tank sender terminal to ground it then should read empty. it is opposite to later cars, so in other words a wire off the sender or a burnt out sender causes gauge to read full, no stablizer is needed with these, tank sender and gauge are not interchangable with morr...

Re: Smoke from engine bay, start motor? HELP!
its that bolt connection to the side of the battery box which has caused the fault, clean the paint off around that hole and replace the earth wire to the pump and all should be ok. the thick earth cable from battery has been making a poor connection to the body just there but making a reasonable co...

Re: Fuel Gauge and Tank Sender
what jaekl says is correct for the black face speedo/fuel gauge but not for the gold one. The gold face one is a moving iron gauge, the black face one is a hot wire gauge and uses a stabilizer [not voltage stabilizer] as it switches on and off the voltage to the gauge to regulate the temp of the hot...

Re: Fuel Gauge and Tank Sender
hello paul, with the gold type gauge you need the correct tank sender, so if you have seen your gauge work correctly you have the right one. with the speedo pulled out and looking at the rear of the gauge [right way up of course] the terminal on the right marked B is the 12volt supply , this should ...

Re: Front wing for Series II
hi, i have a series 11 saloon and i fitted the 1000 front wings, the only thing i had to alter was the holes for the side light. This was done by welding a piece of steel in the light hole and redrilling and filing out for the smaller side light, if you dont have welding skills get someone to do it ...

we used to have a gas poker for lighting the coal fire, it was inserted under the coal and with a length of rubber pipe it connected to a tap on the wall like that one, in them days there was no mobile phones/ texts etc to distract the person lighting the fire.
