Re: Lost clutch fluid!

Thanks Mark, Agee need t get underneath it! This is a common conversion - Ford 5 speed gear box - 1275 midget engine - I'm trying to work out where the clutch master cylinder is. Wasn't obvious and I couldnt see it - probably be easier when up on a jack. I'l get some pics anyway

Lost clutch fluid!

Hi All, wonder if you can give me some idea where to start looking. All my clutch fluid is draining out into a puddle - seems to be roughly underneth where the master cylinder is located under the driver floor plan. As some of you know this has a 5 speed sierra gearbox conversion and I assume a hydr...

Re: Battery discharging

Just to say that it was the altenator - a big thank you to Charlie who now doesn't have a spare  It was good to watch how it was all done - I'll know for next time.

Re: Battery discharging

Hi there, Yep Swine Flu seems to be under control - it's cucumbers we all have to be worried about!! Many thanks for all this - the battery holds it charge ok when not connected to the car. Certainly wouldn't help tightening up the fan-belt as there is a bit of give there - perhaps fitting a new one...

Battery discharging

Hi all, I'm still here! Poppy the red one has been sold - had lots of interest so now left with just the little blue one - that's more than enough for me! Car battery is new and has been checked - once charged it fine for a couple of days but then discharges whether or not the car has been driven. I...

Charlie had a look at the weekend and it certainly looks like cylinders. Fluid came out of the pipe when "he" pressed the pedal so that looks ok!! Got the bits including half shaft gasket and oil seal so should be fixed soon :-)

Thanks - looks like a couple of things to check before I buy a new one. Don't know how old it is as it was in the vehicle when we bought it earlier this year. Should have mentioned that this one is the trav not the red one. Alternator not dynamo.

Battery question

Had to charge up the battery a couple of days ago and car started perfectly. However just a few days later it seems to have lost some of it's charge and I couldn't start this morning. Not completely dead but does this indicate that the battery is ready for the scrap-yard.

PSL -Haven't really been anywhere - struggling still to find a new permanent job. Seems that once you've gone past 50 employment opportunities fade away!! Perhaps I should have spent more time trying to find a man/mechanic to keep me in the manor to which I've been accustomed!! (i.e. lying underneat...

Thanks so far - I think I'll get new cylinders and bearing seals for starters and then start looking at the pipework. I noticed that you can buy a whole set of brake pipes but that might be going a bit over the top!

Is there a separate hose to each rear break or does the fluid just flow down the central pipe from the MC to both rear breaks at the same time - if you know what I mean!

Just for added measure the handbreak doesn't work either but hope that might be something simple .....

Seems like a job for someone with very very long arms and legs :-) Why couldn't it have just failed on a simple piec...

Ani's back!!

Well the little red pick-up failed the MOT but only on rear breaks and handbreak - neither of which work!! Oh and worn rubber bushes on the rear shocks. Wonder if you might be able to help as I've got a couple of questions! The first - I checked Bull Motif for the rubber bush and it says I need 4 pe...

Been thinking a bit more about this - it's a hydraulic clutch so would it have one of these return springs? and if not could it be something else?
