You seem to have overlooked depreciation.

I'm surprised to see this one resurrected; it's almost two years since I posted it. Predictably I got a £60 fine and three points.

Re: Front damper removal
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm taking off the telescopic suspension and putting it back to standard set-up. Is it necessary to touch the torsion bar? Not mentioned in the Haynes manual as part of damper removal.

Front damper removal
I've removed the bolts which hold the damper to the chassis, as well as the nut on the end of the pivot bolt, but I can't see how to get the damper arm off the pivot bolt. According to the manual it should tap off. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: If you could, where would you take your Morris?
I'd probably do a trip I did many years ago. Me and a friend, both aged seventeen, took a Minor convertible across the channel, drove down through France to Spain, back along the French coast and into Italy, over the Alps to Switzerland, Germany,Luxemborg, Belgium, and back to Calais. No credit card...

Re: insurance refund
You are right in assuming you'll get a refund but it will probably only be a small percentage of the premium, and you might have to wait for up to sixty days for your insurance company to cough up.

Re: Traveller Woodwork Repairs - advice please
Titebond is excellent woodglue; get the waterproof one. Available from Axminster Power Tools, and probably numerous other places as well. No point in going to all the trouble of doing a repair and using glue which isn't up to the job.

Re: charles ware morris minors
Charles Ware like any other Moggie specialist or anyone else in business, is operating primarily for only one reason; to make a profit, not to keep these cars on the road. That's a romantic view. No profit no business, and that's how it has to be. The quality of service and extent of the profit/mark...

Re: Stripping & resealing traveller wood
Ash doesn't respond well to pressure treatment. If I had a Traveller I'd consider using Southern Yellow Pine from North America. It can be very effectively pressure treated, it's strong, has no knots and a grain pattern not that dissimilar from ash. As for making your own, no complicated joinery inv...

Re: beware Car Buyers
Went for £1900!!! :o Holy Moly! :-? I had a lengthy discussion with the seller about this car and decided it was worth driving for two hours to look at it. The second I saw it I knew I'd wasted my time. I looked at the ebay listing after it had finished and was surprised to see it went for as much ...

DVLA vehicle check
I've just been on the DVLA website to get some information on a Minor I've seen advertised, and the 'date of first registration' was given as 1992. What could be the reason(s) for this?

Car inspection needed
Is there anyone near Doncaster who could look at a car for me? It's about 8 miles south of Doncaster, although 160 mile from me. I don't usually ask for favours unless I can reciprocate, but I would be really grateful for any help and happy to cover any costs involved.

Re: Mk 3 Austin 1100
The reason for the question was that I saw one for sale in concourse condition, less than 40000 verified miles, £2500 ono. Wasn't quick enough off the mark; it sold immediately.

Re: Painting advice needed please
It's BMC Dark Green. I know that paint from spray cans is designed to be laquered over, whereas the 2 pack is'nt. If I go down the spray can route presumably I'd have to laquer it, in which case I'm not sure if it will look different.
