Re: Cracked carb float chamber lid
Regarding using JB weld to patch the crack, I've found that modern fuel w/ethanol in it will slowly soften up the JB weld.

Re: won't start - now intermittent loss of power
Sounds like it's starving for fuel when the demand is up. You need to flow test the new fuel pump. Also possible that the pump is OK but there is a restriction in the fuel line between the tank and the pump.

Re: REAR AXLE HUB OIL SEAL
Phil, I found the change over listed in the parts manual, not the service manual. It's on page H.4 of the parts manual.
According to my BMC parts list # AKD743 (fifth edition) the addition of the o-ring was from chassis # 448801

Sorry, but it doesn't give "the date of change over and the middle name of the person who fitted the first 'O' ring"

Re: Leaking front dampers
I bought front and rear exchange units from Bull Motif, no problems w/them.
I didn't send the old ones back as the postage would have been more than I would have gotten back from Bully.

Re: Intermittent weird starting problem
Sounds like a poor connection somewhere, possibly at the battery, or where the other ends of the battery cable connect, or maybe the earth strap between the chassis and the transmission.
How old is the battery? It may be the battery acting up.

Re: Outer front wheel bearing orientation
Here's a pic of how the bearings SHOULD NOT be installed.
You'll have to make sure the bearings are installed the other way around.
Copied offn the forum, don't know who to thank for it.[frame][/frame]

Re: Spare wheel
I bought a modern 14" space saver spare wheel from an auto wreckers, peeled the tire offn the rim, put it on the spare rim for our MM and never looked back. Don't really see the need for a same size spare as don't get many flats theses days, maybe one every 5 or 8 years. Modern cars don't come ...
