He could have bought 2.75 Morris Minors for that money.

Re: Vent catch
The end is peened over so it depends if you want to keep and re-use the pin or not. My issue was keeping the pin in, not getting it out, so I didn't have a problem. If yours is like mine you could probably tap it out. Failing that you could file or grind the end off.

We're only getting our post once a week at the moment and then a huge pile arrives at once, so I'm looking forward to the next issue.

Dave,
That's worrying. What car was that out of interest?

Re: Member - Non Member Field
I think it is useful to have the field, but it's of questionable value if the data is wrong. I suspect a lot of forum members don't even know it is there or how to change it. I only found out when this topic came up previously on the forum - I cannot ever remember being told by the Club. Is there a ...

I've always charged my modern cars without disconnecting the battery and no obvious ill effects so far.

Re: Steering krook lock
We use a Saxon Stoplock Original which we got from Argos, but I guess it might depend on exactly which steering wheel you have.

Re: Weird oil leak.
I had oil drip from the air cleaner after the engine had been run. My breather system seemed to be fine as far as I could see so in the end I just put a loop in the pipe to the air cleaner. That sorted the problem (although you will note the piece of paper towel underneath just in case).

Re: Alternator conversion
I find 'zombie phone users' are just as big a problem on the pavements. On the busy walk through the city centre from the station to the office in the morning I used to play chicken with them rather than step out of their way. Usually a sixth sense would warn them just before collision. The look on ...

Re: Electronic ignition
I've had problems with poor condensor and points for years. I think that's the problem here. If people have been plagued with poor quality parts then an electronic solution is a godsend. If you are using good quality parts and haven't had any problems then you probably can't see what the fuss is al...

Re: Electronic ignition
I use the Pertronix electronic ignition in our 1098 Traveller and have had no issues. It will be matched to Flamethrower coil if I ever get round to changing it but it works fine with the standard coil so I haven't bothered too much.

Re: Fuel octane rating
We have run all our petrol cars on higher octane petrol, usually Shell V-Power for many years without any problems - 1098 Morris Traveller, MX5 and XK8. They all run smoother on V-Power although I'm not going to make any claims about improved fuel economy beyond saying it is no worse. I'm also led t...

Re: Car found buried in back garden.....
Where I used to live there was a sports centre behind. When it was being constructed in the late 1960s the ground was built up to make it flat and level for a running track and one of my friends said that one evening they drove an old Ford Prefect from round the corner, parked it up and left it. Nex...
