Got to be David Hockney...he’s not dead yet and has been photographed in a Minor. Not recently though.

Re: trafficators sticking.

A nice little local garage would sort it for you,and it really shouldn’t cost much. An hour or two at the most. But it’s fun to have a go yourself and if it goes pear shaped the garage will still sort it.

Yes, a love it or hate it colour. It may limit interest if you ever come to sell it, but who knows! My trav is maroon B, and I was warned that it may fade but ten years on it’s still looking fresh. Modern paint ,I suppose.

Re: ''Mind the gap''.....at rear of front wing.

I don’t think there is such a thing as ‘rustproofing ‘ a Minor , but mine were cavity wax injected , the undersides sorted, hammerited and waxoyled to within an inch of their life. Since when they go out in all weathers except when there is salt on the road. They live indoors and are still completely...

Electronic ignition has been a great success on my minors, but didn’t work well on my beetle or my A30.

Re: trafficators sticking.

Trafficators are pretty easy to remove, clean and lubricate. It’s probably just accumulated muck and oil that’s built up over the years. Once you’ve got them cleaned up it’s best to go light on the oil. I just used a drop or two of sewing machine oil and they’ve been trouble free for years.

Re: Hello, New MMOC Member

Ten years ago I treated myself to rebuilt Traveller from Charles Ware. It’s been fabulous, and I got the spec that I wanted...1275 engine,5 speed box etc. But it was expensive and has depreciated somewhat. I’m not bothered as it’s used almost daily and it’s a keeper. One like mine would now cost near...

Re: Currently drinking.....

Does anyone remember drinking Camp ‘coffee’?
Like a syrup with coffee and chicory. Truly foul. My grandfather loved it and insisted that his grandchildren drank it.
We used to pour it into his flowerpots when he was looking the other way

Get an MOT from a classic friendly garage. Well worth the money, and they’ll put you right. You can’t mess around with dodgy steering or brakes.

I’m told that van rims are good for taking 165 tyres. Well, that’s what I’ve been using for the past ten years, after advice on here. The car sits well on them.

Re: HT lead routing and spark plug connectors

Hmm...originality. I suspect that cars of that era didn’t come out of the factory as identical as modern cars. Bits that they had to hand got used.
There are some really puzzling cars in the baby Austin world, with some very odd A30/A35 hybrids.

We’re in Derbyshire. You’re very welcome to come and have a look at our cars. They’re not for sale but might give you an idea whether a Minor would suit you. We’ve got a saloon and a modified (1275) Trav.
