Re: Price of Travellers

You know, politicians get a lot of stick, but our local bloke is great. Always keeps you up to date with stuff, responds to queries etc. And spends most of his time away from home. I wouldn’t do his job for the money

Re: Cheap winter car

The Tiguan isn't a vast vehicle and has reasonable running costs. It can't really be included among the large list of huge, selfish unnecessary 4WD vehicles which are hated by many and driven by large numbers now. It'll be a much better drive than a Land Rover and should be a good choice for your n...

I am the archetypal old fart driver! Just wanted something with easy access that is ‘well planted’ on these hilly windy roads around here. The higher driving position clinched it compared to a standard saloon.

It’s £2k below book price, so I think that’s ok.

Re: Cheap winter car

It’s only a Golf with a higher driving position really. Easy to get in and out of when you’ve got dodgy knees. Pretty economical on fuel too.

Cheap winter car

So I sold my old Landy and made a few quid, but not too keen on taking the old girls out on these salty roads. I’ve just bought a 2010 Tiguan 4motion Summit for £4,500. Starship mileage but looks and drives beautifully with a great history and new injectors and turbo in the last year. My first exper...

Re: Fuel pump

Hope you were in a safer place than I was when our pump packed up last week! Now I’ve discovered that the pump works but the inside of the rubber fuel line has turned to gelatinous mush and blocked the flow of fuel.

My great uncle’s Hillman Minx had a special pipe ashtray. I doubt that it was original equipment though..mid sixties.

Re: Many thanks

Spent some time on the car this afternoon. The fuel pump is ok , but the fuel hose from the pump to the carb has turned to mush inside. Looks perfect from the outside. Despite advice from forum gurus about not using inline filters, I have always kept one between the pump and the carb. In the full li...

Re: footman james

It’s a pity. They used to be ok. I’ve been using a broker lately. Just less than 400 quid for 2 Minors, anA30,a Beetle and an old Landy. Strict mileage restrictions, but fine for us.

..to Derbyshire Police, who protected our Minor with a traffic car and flashing lights last evening. The fuel pump failed on a busy, narrow, winding road at twilight and it was a pretty scary experience. The traffic Bobby waited with us until our friend arrived to recover us on his trailer, and then h...
