Make sure it snaps on properly for a good seal.

Re: Steering Rack

Yes, as it needs to attach to the nipple.

Re: Steering Rack

A nipple is accessible through a hole in the floor at rack level, on the nearside. Assuming there is no oil already in the rack, I think it is 10 strokes of the gun ( check that though) Some people use grease but I’m not sure if that is right, I’d use oil. Anyhow no need to remove rack.

I realise the plate is stamped for orientation, nonetheless. However I now know from subsequent posts that complete assembly the wrong way is not possible.

Re: Removing sorn

I discovered I could also phone dvla to tax vehicle with just v5c. After giving details via selecting various options a mechanised voice told me the vehicle should be taxed from 1st May 2020 ! Trying again I got the same response. I cancelled the call. Went for the online method but had a similar re...

Re: Removing sorn

Thanks kennat, that sounds the best option.
Phil, the nearest type of bike to yours, that I had, was a Suzuki 185 ER. I now ride a Yamaha R3, a medium size machine, bikes are the answer to today’s traffic, for many trips.

Yes, looking smart. Glad you’ve kept the two part wooden floor, a lot of people don’t bother and throw in one large piece. If you’re looking to acquire the spare wheel holding bolt, here’s a picture with measurements.

Re: Removing sorn

Thanks for your reply Phil, I’ll see what forms are appropriate, when on the road I relied on the reminder being sent, and simply phoned up the automated service quoting the reminders 16 digit reference number, for tax to be granted. I’ve always had a bike myself, what do you ride Phil?

Removing sorn

Do I just get a form at post office, and fill it in, or can it be removed over the phone ? The vehicle in question is tax and mot exempt.

Re: New Clutch, can't get a gear

I’m wondering it the driven plate is round the wrong way, not sure if that’s possible though. Trying 3 clutch kits doesn’t sound too good, maybe a clue there?

The heater outlet looks like it’s full of something, are you sure you can’t dig the blockage out?

Not many folk keep their lives private these days. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—— there was, on this very forum, what seemed like a spate of one upmanship over various health issues, no sooner had someone described their ailment, someone else posted a ‘better’ one, almost as a point of ...

Bulkhead plates

I’m not sure which plates should be present in the attached photo, I presume the one shown is correct but there are holes for another, can someone enlighten me please? Sorry for the poor picture quality

Re: Engine rebuild questions

I’ve used a similar tool to this to take the glaze from the bores, the flap wheels don’t want to be too tight a fit, as the flaps are thrown out in use, move the tool up and down a few times and check. You can get a lighter version than the type shown, which might be preferable.. 56E18CD6-5363-445B-...

Re: Weight of typical Moggie engine

Not sure this will help but interesting. http://www.miniweights.co.uk/engine.html A mini engine with combined gearbox in the sump is approximately 330 lbs, minus say half cwt for gearbox, for engine alone. All approximate weights, however, if you construct a device suitable for the mini engine/box c...
