Re: Franchised Dealers.

Surprisingly today I haven't had the promised phone call from the dealer service manager ! Took the car to an independent mark specialist late this afternoon who couldn't put car on their ramps as both had cars on them, quick look in the carpark and they said -: Rear pads, discs and sensor required ...

This wooden back was on the LCV stand at the NEC restoration show and looked really good.

Rear pads 50% worn. Advisory additional work not included in service cost :- four wheel alignment and t...

Re: 1966 Morris Minor with genuine 2570 miles discovered

Seller appears confident of car history, however due to the absence of early documentation eg. MOT's I feel any buyer can only consider the car as ''thought to be 2570 miles'' and if happy with that and the price then buy it.

As always its ''caveat emptor''.

Re: What does the panel think?

I sold one for the same price to a local member and asked them to give the £10 to a local charity. So if £10 is wrong we are both wrong. Does that make it a right? :D

Re: Wall of Death

When I had a motorcycle, many years since, I always found left hand bends easier. So perhaps there is a scientific reason. Mind you I could fall off on any bend, left or right. Last week I looked at a motorbike through a showroom window, the voice behind me said " you can get that idea out of your h...

Re: Here we go again another coil.

I've been told the rule of thumb is green lucas label equals new, orange label equals new old stock, not had an orange label lucas but if I see one I will be sure to grab it. Roy makes a good point about ballasted and non ballasted coils, I think minis used both dependent on build date so it would b...

Re: Here we go again another coil.

Out of interest were you driving at high speeds? I've had 2 coils go because I've driven on motorways and the way it was secured, it must have vibrated or hit a resonance point and caused damage. I've had the current coil on mine attached to a stronger part of the engine bay, rather than on that li...

Re: Here we go again another coil.

Perhaps modern coils are just poor quality? Al When I spoke to one of the suppliers about one of their coils which had lasted 8 months on the car (12 months 2 weeks since purchase) he said at the price they were good value. Not if you have to buy a new one every year was my reply. He asked me to pa...

Here we go again another coil.

After a cold windy day at Weston Park the last thing I needed was a breakdown on the way home. So 20 miles from home an intermittent misfire soon became a full blown misfire, replaced the 18 month old coil with the spare and off I went. An unremarkable story apart from the fact this is the third coi...

Re: 1966 Morris Minor with genuine 2570 miles discovered

With current restoration costs it could be a good purchase assuming the reserve is realistic, but how do you value a one off and if you use it then its unique selling point is gone forever. A couple of years ago an Austin 1100 with around 250 miles on the clock was at a few local shows, by the end o...

Cars you feel may have questionable provenance.

If you see a vehicle advertised for sale which you feel may have questionable provenance please remember it is likely that the vendor is totally unaware of any issue. If you wish to contact a vendor with concerns could you at the same time ask them to contact the MMOC who will do all they can to ass...

I replied to both pointing out the problem with their respective replie...
