Re: Wanted a roof light box

I think I saw an other post elsewhere referring to a Police Roof Light box.

To respond to the question:
I would have thought it would be fairly straightforward for a sign company to make a box up to a given drawing or photograph.

Re: Rear damper link mounting

I would imagine that a bolt and washer of suitable size and strength would be OK... Alternatively, perhaps you could grind down a bit of the stub and weld a suitable bolt onto it, grinding the bolt head/weld so that it is of the same roundness/circumference as the stub. I may give that a go rather ...

Re: Rear damper link mounting

I've just been pondering, the stud which holds the damper bar is still in place its just the threaded end that has sheared off, would I be able to drill and tap the remaining stud to take a bolt? I think the bolt is only there to stop the link bar from slipping off the stud so wouldn't really have a...

Re: "Gracie" Dove grey 1965 2 door saloon.

So as you can see there is plenty of rust to be dealt with, I honestly think Gracie has been dragged from a field, the rust holes have ben bodged and made to look nice with a coat of paint, when in reality she is rotten. Buyers beware, I'm just glad I didn't spend any money buying Gracie I would hav...

Re: "Gracie" Dove grey 1965 2 door saloon.

I suppose I had better keep this thread updated as I go along. The current situation is Gracie is now just a shell, everything has been stripped off and I have braced the interior and one of the door openings ( I cant get to the other door as my wife has piled two bedrooms worth of waste wallpaper b...

Re: Rear damper link mounting

Mike

It's the shock absorber top mounting that I have sheared, the spring mounts "seem" to be in good condition, but I have yet to get in from above and check, so that could be another story.

Re: Rear damper link mounting

It's typical, the actual spring hanger and box section is solid on that side, whereas the other side is rotten.

Oh well at least I know it will be right once I've done.

Thanks Phil.

Rear damper link mounting

Whilst working on my '65 2 door saloon today I came across yet another bodge whereby the rear damper link mounting has been butchered somewhat, well actually quite a lot, it appears to have been welded and a nut forced on, well on attempting to remove the badly damaged nut the pin sheared leaving me ...

Re: Your thoughts please

If you can tap it then that would be easiest no need to go overboard with the size just a step up from the current size. If you "glue" the bolts in they may damage the casing if you ever try to extract them. A mechanic once told me don't forget the next man, meaning the next person to work on the ca...

Re: Advantages or otherwise of changing / uprating the diff

Hi It was me who originally asked the question as I intend to use my Morris Minor 1000 for the odd competition such as car trials and the occasional 12 car road rally/Scatter rally. The car will never venture onto a motorway, so how "bad" would a 4.8 diff be for the above and occasional drives out o...

Would you post a picture of the quality of the wheels from ESM?
I too will be ordering a set at some point but the website photographs don't really show that much.

Having had a number of Classics (some of which were not classics when I owned them) I can say the Minor is definitely the most satisfying when it comes to working on it, Everything has room to work around it, everything is straightforward and relatively simple (I have a rewire "looming" (sorry) so I...
