Re: Modified Suspension

Can you tell where the 'crashing and banging' is coming from? Left/right, front/rear? From the 'side-on' picture the rear of the car definitely looks to be lowered, and that is confirmed by the picture taken of the rear axle. There appear to be 4 leaves in the spring, and there should be 5, AND the...

Re: Modified Suspension

As regards the front damper - did you remove the valves from the original lever dampers? When fitting tele dampers the original dampers with the valves removed just revert to becoming the suspension top links and nothing else. If you did not remove the original valves you will have double damping t...

Re: Modified Suspension

My saloon has telescopic dampers front and back. It drives really well in corners and gentle bumps etc However if I hit poor surface , pot hole etc it bangs and crashes and shakes your teeth out It feels like there is no "give" at all. Its been a while since I drove an older car but I dont believe ...

Re: Modified Suspension

Thanks Richard
The suspension was from ESM front and back. Not adjustable
I don't believe it was lowered , certainly not on purpose

Re: 1275 cc Oil Leak

Looking at your pictures on the air filter thread, You will reduce the crankcase pressure if you purchase a oil catch pipe http://www.minispares.com/product/Classic/12A1735.aspx and fit it from the oil catch canister (front of the engine with small filter fitted) to the blanked off inlet on the rea...

RVC Rev Counter

When bought the car it had a nice installation of rev counter , water temp an oil pressure in the drivers glove box. The rev counter had never worked apparently as it was an RVI type that is fitted in series with the coil and is unsuitable for the electronic ignition which is fitted to the car ( lum...

Re: Diff Identification

If you look up the torque required on the pinion nut you might wish to modify your plan. I’v never changed one unless it needed changing. Does yours? I dont know if it was leaking however I cant justify puting it on only to find it is leaking... I willhave to think of a way to lock the system while...

Re: Diff Identification

Thanks all Great response Im going to swap it to the 3.9:1 Ive had a look at the unit and there is nothing that jumps out at me with regard to the diff (no broken teeth etc) Although the manual doesnt say as much Im guessing you need to withdraw the drive shafts before taking the old diff out. Also ...

Re: Diff Identification

At the moment I suspect I wouldnt need 1st gear at all . It would pull away in 2nd happily. On an A road Im in 4th very quicky , probably before I hit 40 mph. Once there I can get up to 70 mph ( only done this once ) I was hoping I could first go for changing the diff if it was a higher ratio. It s...
