as there is only a single row bearing on the three quarter axle so the shaft has a role of supporting the hub. the weight of the vehicle is largely taken through the hub & bearing to the axle casing so no sheer stress on the shaft as in the semi floating type but will have a bending stress particula...

This is where I fitted mine, been there for years without any probs .
As no head on in the pic you cant tell but will clear a 3 branch manifold there

You will also need a register to locate the flywheel (bolts alone will not be good enough )

the reason for waterheating the manifold on any engine is to assist fuel vaporisation which will help even mixture distribution improving efficiency & emissions etc .

with the front suspension dismantled the height difference between the inner & outer pivot points on the lower arm should be about 5-5/8"
