Re: Which A-series?
The petrol should be ok for an A series. I had a moggy laid up for 8 years (awaiting welding prevented by children coming along!) which I never topped up, but I used to start it every 6 - 12 months and occasionally drive it out of the garage to clean it.

Re: Essentials in the boot
I tend to agree with the above, however, its no use carrying anything you do not know how to fit. So if your mechanical knowledge is limited only carry what you would be comfortable replacing on the roadside. Atlas, coins for parking meter/tyre inflator, Oil, spare bottle of water (for radiator/wind...

Re: Which A-series?
I thought the big valve heads had 2 extra holes to assist with bolting them on and torqueing them down. That looks like a 1275 head with big valves in.
What sort of price should they go for - this one dosnt appear to be moving at £75.

Re: Pressure washing - yay or nay?
Hi - agree with what you say about using the car - this forum tends to be full of car polishers  . As mentioned - pressure washing is good for removing salt / rust / loose paint  . I pressure washed my (new to me) pick up last week and removed half of the poor respray in the engine bay :...

Re: Winter driving
Don't see how rust is a problem, whenever I wash the car I make sure I spray the underside and wheel arches as well not just the bits you can see. She has been waxoiled and if she did rust the parts are available to replace the panels underneath. The problems as I see with winter driving is that the...

1/2 inch was a measurement off the top of my head - I have the full details in an old copy of "show n go" the custom moggy newsletter. I will loook it up and give accurate details, but I dont see 1/2 inch being a problem.

Re: Bit of fun: post pics of your fave modded moggy's
If it hits the bump stops going over bumps when lowered - one old trick was to cut 1/2 inch off the bump stops and then drill holes vertically up into the bump stop so that they still have some "squash" in them when the suspension travels up to meet it. Obviously stiffer shock absorbers / ...

A few years ago I bought a tuned 1098 4dr with no silencers just 2 cherry bombs( 8) reg VPR849 - I wonder if she is still around). Sounded great :D (a bit loud) but went absolutely fantastic (could do a ton - apparently! ). Didn't do any flow checks on it but it was a very good set up....

Yes the "severed" roof is quite stiff :P . What I didnt realise until after I had started was that the rear side windows are a different shape on the saloon compared to the convertible  . I intend to make my soft top detachable around the rear frame with "popers" or "D...

Here is my converted convertible, pretty standard :( (GRP wings, boot, bumper valence. Marina 1275, uprated shocks, marina front discs. Homemade towbar and BMW interior). Its used for my daily commute Gosport to Southampton. The engine bay needs a tidy  (on the to do list) and she needs a new ...

Has the custom register died? Its a very good question and I totally agree! After I re-joined the MMOC I sent a postal letter and an e-mail to the address for the modified register mentioned in Minor Matters. I received no reply. I then checked with the Minor Matters editorial team to see if ...

Re: Three spoke steering wheel, which way up?
Definitely single spoke up - If you crash and the bakerlight shatters then you want the spokes to be missing you! Admittedly this assumes that you are steering straight when you crash!
