Re: can this block be rebored ?

I intend to have an exchange crankshaft complete with bearings etc. The shells on the old one are showing signs of wear as the copper is starting to show through but I've seen worse. As its all in pieces anything else I should be looking at ?
Is a duplex timing gear a good idea.

I don't know of any police force CID that used black Morris Minors but I could be wrong. A giveaway for a panda would be the Zip in the headlining.

Re: can this block be rebored ?

Thanks chaps for all your replies.I did think that as the pistons didn't have any +20, +40 stamped on them the block might have been standard which would mean there will be plenty of meat left for reboring. The bores have a very minor amount of surface rust on them. Thanks Bob for the offer of rebor...

can this block be rebored ?

I have been given a complete 1098cc engine everything is there but its all in pieces. I have cleaned one of the pistons off and there are numbers and letters i.e. m2007 front mowog 844. Can this block be rebored or has it been rebored to its capacity. There are no +20, 40 etc stamped on the piston.

The one in Chessington was on the Leatherhead Road opposite Garrison Lane and the one in New Malden was in South Lane.

Re: 1968 Police Morris Minor

Well done for spotting that. You're quite right It shouldn't have the red coach line and this has now been removed. These cars were bought on a budget i.e. no overriders, coach lines, low compression engine. If they could save a penny then they would.

Re: 1968 Police Morris Minor

fullsizeoutput_a06.jpeg This is my ex met Panda painted Burmuda Blue and Police white which is correct. I know this as this is the actual car that I drove brand new out of Surbiton Police Station yard in April 1968. I also have the Heritage certificate giving the build date, the delivery date to th...

Re: positive to negative earth

Thanks for that have been into the previous posts and it looks like an easy swap. There is no mention of changing the solenoid leads or the fuel pump. Do these have to be done?

positive to negative earth

Have just been to have a radio fitted to my minor only to be told that my car is positive earth and they need my car to be negative earth. As far as I understand to switch over I have to turn the battery round so that the terminals are on the opposite sides then change the coil leads, the fuel pump ...

Re: Dash panel removal

Thanks for the reply. No I'm not going to paint the whole car that has been done already but who ever painted it before and they did a good job didn't do the panel. I shall have to have another think on what to do with it, I may be able to paint it in situ with a lot of masking. Thanks again for the...

Dash panel removal

I would like to remove the dash panel on my 1968 minor to repaint it. Is it a difficult job? How do I go about it? Advice would be appreciated.

Re: Radial Tyres - Help

All Metropolitan police pandas were fitted with crossply tyres but I cannot vouch for the other forces. I changed my pandas crossplys for Bridgestones and the difference was remarkable would never go back to crossplys.

All metropolitan police Morris minor pandas were fitted with diaphragms to the front seats to cope with large policemans bottoms. Mine still has the original ones fitted and show no signs of wear.

Re: Not what they used to be!

I remember back in the late 40s or early 50s a scrap yard on the Leatherhead road in Chessington where the owner allowed my mate and I to wander round and sit in the various old vehicles including model A Fords and an old London transport bus but the best one was a second world war Hawker Hurricane ...
