Thanks Shoebone. I do indeed have an dynamo.
That's what I thought so it looks like I have something earthing that shouldn't be. I fitted the battery switch because the battery would go flat when the car was not used for several days. I will check it out again (sometime) and let you know.

Clicking bobbin.
Several years ago some grot tried to steal my CD player. I had not long bought it at a car boot for £1.00. It didn't work either. He pulled a load of wires from under the driver's side glove box and it has taken me this long to refit them all (correctly). I had rewired a few things wrong but every t...

Re: Knifeing putty.
I have only used spray cans but it works fine. Talc is an inert powder so it shouldn't react with paint and yes it dose smell nice. I wanted to fill the gap between the roof and the gutter on the Traveller so I mixed a small amount of fibre glass resin and talc with a tiny bit of hardener. This fill...

Knifeing putty.
With this hot dry weather I decided that it is a good time to look at my paintwork on my neglected Traveller. I wanted to fill in the small blemishes that the seagulls had made on the ally roof. The local motor factors no longer sell knifing putty so I made my own. I sprayed some red primer into the...

Re: Indicator
I was brought up on Honda motorbikes and now I have an old Triumph 650 Twin I find myself stamping on the gearchange to do an emergency stop!!! But I no longer smear the wife's windscreen when I make a turn. I still try to turn the ignition key behind the steering wheel though.

Indicator
In the 1980s my Mrs. sold her Minor and bought an Astra. This became our main car and I used my Traveller for work. I found myself flicking the Astra's wipers on when I wanted to indicate left or right. To avoid this I switched the Minor's indicator arm to the left of the steering wheel. It is a sim...

Re: Traveller Window Channel- Which type?
The reason I did this (with proper glass from Pilkington's) was to stop the wood from rotting. Swelling wood made the sliding windows hard to move. I have had the car since 1979 and replaced the wood twice. The glass is sealed all the way around and dose not leak and the wood has stayed rot free. Fr...

Re: Dum dum alternatives
I used Dum Dum when I replaced my wood about 20 years ago. I have just replaced some wood and carried out some repairs and found the old Dum Dum has dried and hardened causing it to crack and fail. I found some stuf at a builders merchants called Plumbers Mate which is a black mastick in a tube. It ...

I want to regester my 1069 Traveller in France. One question I can not answer on the form is the maximum carrying capacity of the car. I have looked at all the manuals I have but can not find any referance. Any one have the answer?
