Yes, its a loose fit but goes on and most importantly doesnt come off without the key.
Keep the key on your key ring and the spare key somewhere handy, make a note of the number/code and keep that handy too

Re: tappet clearance
The problem with any site is you never know what level of Mechanic you are dealing with, so forgive me, there is no inference, but did you use the number 9 rule? i.e. 1 rocker down set 8, 2 rocker down set 7 etc? Also the whizz kids on here had me set my exhaust valves slightly wider at 15 thou, inl...

The best standard I ever purchased and I still have a pair in my garden, was Pat Austin named after David Austins (the rose grower) late wife.
A deep copper colour with a lovely scent that is so often missing on Hybrid moderns.
Highly recommended.

I had to revive this thread, I apologise! I am baffled as to what colour Martha is. I thought she was smoke grey, but that looks too...grey. 3 stud wheels were fitted to 1920s Oxfords and bullnose tourers.
This design of wheel was quite common on both models also.

Re: Lead replacement
Down the pub I was told by a mechanical engineer whom I respect, that once an old engine is carboned up you don't really need to use lead replacement in the fuel - does anyone have views on this or is it a question of better be safe than sorry and keep on using the replacement fluid? Mick, I took B...

I think it would be worthwhile contacting them, because if it needs a new head gasket you may or may not feel this is something you can tackle yourself.(white Mayo may be indicativ...

Re: Front Wheel Bearings
I had to replace one bearing about 18 months ago to get through my road vehicle inspection (Warrant of Fitness probably like your MOT). My car already had tappered bearings so seeing I replaced the one I did the 4 in end. All I had to do its tap out the old cups and tap in the new cups, grease them...
