Re: Barnsley Minors Event. Elsecar 10th May

Well, I only live in Stocksbridge so thought I would pop down for a quick couple of hours. Time is very limited with a young family. Last year I promised myself I would return this year with my own car. After spending a lot of time admiring the lovely splitscreen Black Traveller with the MG engine a...

Re: A Bit Depressing

They weren't all crushed, there's plenty of pictures on facebook of the airfields full of Minis and Land Rovers and Minors etc. There is even a petition to sign to get them back on the roads as restoration projects for youngsters. https://www.change.org/p/david-cameron-mp-car-scrappage-scheme-releas...

Re: HELP SCRATCH!!!

When I used to work in the motor trade 5 yrs ago, the rule of thumb was £100 + Vat for a smallish panel or £25 for a local smart repair done from the back of a van. At these prices, quality was not always fantastic. I would image these prices would be at least double now and retail, incidentally a D...

First job, get it immobilised or a secret switch. Welcome to the club and the forum search engine is a great place to start for any little problems.

Re: Our 1st Moggy. 1956 Split Screen. WSL 230

Betty? I feel, you can't change a cars name once you know it had on but Wesley would have been more appropriate. The previous owner called mine, surprisingly, Woody. He has a little name badge off ebay now but I couldn't put it under the Minor badge, that would have been inappropriate.

I always thought the same, if you do swop them I would put your originals in your loft incase you want to revert back or sell the car, they could be difficult to find in the future.

Re: BBC Radio 4 search

It might help if you asked for a 2dr (they were never called Coupes) and the correct colour, Trafalgar Blue. Unfortunately the DVLA will only release information to the current keeper (no matter how nice the letter is your write). I tried. Google dosen't show anything, neither does the MMOC search b...

Re: New Member - Just Bought my First Morris...

I too (like John Naylor) am with Lancaster, make sure you have an agreed value and insist on the option to purchase the car back if it gets wrote off. From reading a resent post about a Traveller rebuild, if this does happen, have it recovered to your home so you are in procession, not the insurance...

Re: New member

Just bide your time, there's plenty of split screens with later 948 or 1098 cc engines. Or you could get an original and do the conversion yourself with a £500 1000 off ebay. I recon you'll need £4500 for which ever route you take for a nice clean car. For a start, theres a lowlight in the classfiel...

Re: ROSE TAUPE OR PEAT BROWN

Good information in the post above. Peat is a proper mid brown (left) Rose Taupe is more of a pastel colour with a hint of lavender in it (right). Personally, I like Rose Taupe a lot.[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1427148238_20480 [/frame] (Images from Google, car on the left is probably...

Well there still there on Google Maps, hidden behind the shrubs. The postcode is TN34 1LN.
It does look like a private yard awaiting development. Need saving. Looks like a job for the local branch.[frame]Image[/frame]

Panda in the Alps - Brooks Cycling Advert

Not a cyclist so please excuse my knowledge of the subject but Brooks (saddles and cycling accessories) have used a Morris Minor in their latest advert. It's a nice picture so I thought you may enjoy. I believe the reference of the Morris Minor is to show British Functionality. I don't know why it h...

Re: Painting badge

Yep, I very carefully did mine too, the bull in red and the water waves in blue - Humbol Enamel Paints are £1.10 a tin from Hobby Craft. Have a cloth with some thinners on, then if the paint goes over the raised chrome you can quickly rub it off. Also, I used a kids small paint brush but thinned and...

GTT 1951, you had the same problem as me, the across bars are too short, probably for a mini or imp. Luckily me feet are quite attractive and flat topped so I can use mine to make my own. Each to their own, if I don't like how it looks I'll take it off. No dents so far and no damaged gutters.

Re: Minor adoration

Theirs no way I would pay £17k for a Brown 2dr, regardless of mileage.
Infact, the only Minors I would pay more than £10k for would be a mint million, a 1949 MM or a Mickey Mouse GPO Van.
