Custom Register News Letters Looking For Good Home
I have a large collection of Custom Register newsletters, Show N Go that I must get rid of but dont want to bin because there is a lot of history in them. The early ones are by Russ Smith, then Andrew Booth, and Andi Kyle. It would be good if they could be digitised and put on the web somewhere. I w...

Re: Fuel system modifications
There are various ways. The important thing is always to have a supply of fuel to the high pressure pump. You can have a collector tank (tall and thin about 3 litres) outside the main tank. A high volume low pressure pump feeds this from the main tank. The high pressure pump can be submerged or outs...

Re: A couple of V8's on ebay
Potentially a couple of bargains there.
The Trav says it has a Carlton rad and it runs hot....... I used one of those in my Kitten and it was fine so it must be an air flow issue.

For a horizontal filter you need a housing from a traverse engine such as a Regata or Strada.

you all agreed the T & C's when you signed onto the board. . Got to admit that I just always "Agree" with the T&C and have never properly bothered to read them as they are too long, seem to be written by the club lawers full of legal talk and I hope that common sense will will suf...

I am very surprised that JLH has been banned and would find it interesting to know why.

Re: National Rally, getting close
Setting off in the morning. I have just plotted a route for my Tom Tom that will take me from Coventry through the Peak District on small, hopefully quiet roads. It should be more fun than the M69 and M1!

Re: Twin SU Manifold
I have a pattern for the twin SU manifold that I am wanting to sell as I cant see myself ever needing another manifold.

Another vote for the twin SU`s.
They were such an improvement over the standard carb.

Re: Reproduction of classic parts
And so - when most folks add louvres at the back - they are allowing even MORE air to cram in under the bonnet!!!!!!!!!!! Rather than allowing hot air to escape. I think your U tube reading will be more to do with air being compressed onto the bonnet - by the steep windscreen.......... But interest...

Re: Reproduction of classic parts
Just let rain onto the engine! No need on a Minor - there are huge holes either side of the engine bay at the rear to let air escape. I once did a pressure map of the bonnet using a U tube filled with water. One end of the pipe was taped above the bonnet and the other below in many different places...

Re: Volumex block
I would expect Martins car to be the quickest due to the development he has put into the car, the power and wide slicks. In theory mine has the potential to be quickest due to the weight distribution, very stiff chassis, track and large wishbones, though on the downside is the weight (approx 900kg)....

Re: Volumex block
Re 16V head onto 131 block: You need to block off a couple of oilways in the top of the block. I just drilled and tapped and put on a grub screw. My 16V Fiat with 280 degree cams, 10:1 CR, pretty much stock head makes 185bhp at 6000 rpm and 179lb/ft at 4,500 rpm the flywheel. I can drive at tickover...

Re: Roll Cage
I had an Aley Bars cage in my first Minor back in 1986. It seemed to fit well.
The cage I built was blasted, etched and powder coated. It is a very durable good looking finish, much better than I could have achieved by painting.

Re: Fiat, twin webers, nightmare. thoughts.
Yes fitting twin Webers is awkward. Mounting the engine high helps with all issues. We never had to cut the bulkhead. I used to make an angled filter mounting plate to get trumpets and deep K and N filters on. Eventually I made a pattern to cast manifolds for twin SU`s (for sale by the way.....) The...

I exchanged a few emails with the builder of Astral Trav. Not sure if I still have his details, but he was still into cars.
