Re: New Purchase!!

David Where did you get the plates made? Those are very handsome indeed. As I have the original paperwork for our 1960 Traveller (LHD Export), which my dad bought new and drove around the U.K. before bringing it to the States, I found the bit with the original registration number (never reissued). I...

Re: Low Light UFN 456 is now mine!

Those are Morris 1000 doors, hence the door lock on the nearside. Lowlight doors are different and never had lock holes on the other door. If you need pictures of the door handles, etc, I'll take these tomorrow. My '51, '55 saloons and '56 Traveller only have door locks in the driver's side. My, lo...

Re: Low Light UFN 456 is now mine!

Those are Morris 1000 doors, hence the door lock on the nearside. Lowlight doors are different and never had lock holes on the other door. Just to echo this, having looked at a load of LHD Minors over the last 40 years ... one of the major drawbacks to LHD Minors until the early 1960s was the lock ...

Re: Outer headlight rim

Rob, Ian Sorry for late response, I've been lagging on MMOC Forum notifications. I presume the first of the two photos shows Rob's three, and the second one is Ian's rechromed one? I'd be happy with the latter if you'd be willing to let it go (and could collect it from a UK address over the holidays...

Re: Outer headlight rim

Yup, that type. Sadly sold now. I only need one more personally (for Clementine) but they're rare as hen's teeth in N America. Would be great if you see any of those on auction again ... with thanks ahead of time! :) https://picclick.co.uk/Bmc-Austin-Morris-Mg-aston-Martin-Lucas-Headlamp-17347361364...

Re: Outer headlight rim

Bryan Sadly I am not able to come over in November for the NEC Show this year as it conflicts with a family commitment. Hope to make it to the UK before EoY but not entirely sure as yet. Will drop Gary B another note on the water pumps. best, jv. There were some screw type ones on there but guess mu...

Re: door cards

Rob: Thanks for these. As I'm roughly 2 years away from starting to think about the interior, I hope others who've had to re-create a (maroon-piped) interior from thin air will share their expertise meanwhile. Just to give you an idea (per the Minor Matters piece), I presently have no seats, side pa...

Re: door cards

Thanks, Philip. Appreciate the research. I do in fact need to replace the entire interior (see article on my car in the current Sep/Oct issue of Minor Matters), but am not quite there yet so will let this play out a bit. best, jv. ... I had received a sample of MM beige vinyl from Newton Commercial....

Re: chassis-rail repair sections vs early Series MM cars ??

Rob Many thanks for the photos, which I've added to my folder. Pleased to see the brake line running inside the cutout at the side of the gearbox crossmember, which is still there on my car. It strikes me the best way to check is to get hold of a couple of the sections once the shell is on the rotis...

Re: Series MM Questions - Series MM vs II, "SMM" vs "F" prefixes

Thank you for the good words! :) Clementine will be quite a project, for sure. But, hey, everyone needs to do one ridiculously complicated, horrifyingly expensive rotisserie restoration in their life ... right? I've already got my new copy of Minor Matters and was fascinated by the feature on Clemen...

chassis-rail repair sections vs early Series MM cars ??

I've been corresponding with ESM regarding their full-length chassis leg sections, which will be needed on both sides of my '49 "USA" Tourer, aka Clementine. (If you're a MMOC member, you'll see a feature on the car in the Sep/Oct issue that should be arriving any day now!) ESM has confirm...

Re: Series MM Questions - Series MM vs II, "SMM" vs "F" prefixes

With respect, I don't think this is quite correct. The new ID plates with F-series prefixes were introduced 1 April 1952, presumably to rationalise with the Austin system in the newly combined BMC. It started with serial # 139439, and the old Nuffield practice of allocating separate RHD and LHD sequ...

Re: Outer headlight rim

If it's this ad: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MORRIS-MINOR-1000-56-71-STAINLESS-OUTER-HEADLAMP-RIMS-SCREWS-x-2-500929/371075142963 then those are the later style, not the earlier style used on Series MM cars with the external worm screw to fasten them on. Or did I miss a set of the earlier ones, and i...

replacement armature

I've spent about half an hour online and haven't been able to locate a "replacement armature" ... where did you source yours, Stevey? Thanks in advance. Also on the way home from England the ignition warning light came on. Turns out the regulator had stuck on charge, boiled the battery and...

Re: New Purchase!!

Super info, thanks, Rob. Do we know whether the rear folded-metal brackets gave way to the iron-through-the-valence type at the same time the bumpers went from two-piece to one-piece on two-doors and Tourers? (Jan 1951; RHD 83025, LHD 81502 per parts book) It would make sense that the brackets would...

Re: door cards

Not sure, but I'm not convinced Newton Commercials has a match for the original vinyl on the door cards, whatever colour.

Has anyone asked?

NC confirmed to me last month they don't have an exact match for the buff fibreboard used for the parcel shelf and scuttle (kick) panels on the early cars.

Re: New Purchase!!

Don't know where you are going to get the correct rear bumper for it. My black High-light happens to have a low-light rear bumper, it should be a one-piece one (but not as new as the one on your Tourer). I'm startled that a later one-piece bumper fits a 1950 car; is it on the old mounts (folded met...

Very nice-looking (even if it's got issues), and do please post more photos as you do work on it. I will need all the Tourer inspiration and advice I can get!
