Just make sure that there is good metal to metal contact between Tank and Body Shell somewhere, DON'T just rely on the screws to perform that function.
Otherwise you'll be wondering why the Fuel Gauge isn't working, or it's reading wrongly.....

Re: Brake bleed nipples and union screws
Unlike you I would be most concerned if the connections were flush. How can you be certain they have correctly screwed down if they are flush? I had a 37 year career in aircraft engineering and I would never expect to see a flush pipe Union in the way you speak of.... :-? I can't think of any brakes...

Re: Spotted today.
I was driving just out of Chesham going towards Great Missenden this afternoon a road I've used loads of times even on Saturday when I just happened to look left and there was three Morris Minor saloons in a field and looked as if they have been there a while. There one of two other cars one was a ...

Re: Manifold Work Tips?
Removing the Carburettor, and refitting it, is quite easy, I would say the fiddliest bit is reconnecting the Throttle and Choke Cables correctly. Especially the bit about twisting the Choke Cable, or 'mixture control' as the Workshop Manual calls it (see fig B18 in the Manual). Perhaps 'famous last ...

Re: Over-Eager Wipers on Start
That's pretty strange, all I can imagine is a problem with the 'Self Park' aspect in the Wiper motor. The Wipers are powered as soon as you turn the key on, when you operate the switch, you're actually providing the Earth to the motor. So there must be a stray earth somehow being applied to the motor.

According to the Workshop Manual, the actual Morris one, not the Haynes, .... Section JJ for the 1000 model, it needs to be the complete assembly.

Re: 7" brakes worth saving?
Well, ESM stocks 'reconditioned' 7" front back plates at £35 each, so I would hang onto them a little while yet, perhaps a little bit of cleaning up and painting might be worth it. New pattern 7" drums are readily available as they're the same as the rear. Now whether an original in good c...

Re: Indicators
Yes, trafficators on a switch on the dash and indicators on the stalk OK, so they've diverted the Trafficator Wiring to a 'new' switch, and connected the original Stalk to the Indicators. You mentioned only 2 wires connected to the Flasher Unit. Has it got a 3rd connection terminal on it? Or is it ...

Trafficators are on a separate switch OK, sorry to drag this out. I re-read your original Question.... Re: Indicators
I have found the indicator unit, it currently only has 2 wires connected to it, shouldn’t it have 3 and possibly one has come off? It simply depends on what sort of after market system was installed. Here's just an example of how they could be connected. Indicators.JPG Since you have 2 different fa...

What year car, what Indicator system?
From the sounds of it, almost certainly the Flasher Unit is faulty; but you can always do some electrical fault finding with a Multimeter or test lamp....

Re: Steering column cover
(basically anti-vibration?) On the '63 cars it's a piece of plastic so I think it's just there to make it turn smoother through the bracket. Mine was a very similar experience to MIke, The rubber sleeve holds the metal bush that is the 'bearing'; when I got my car, I thought the steering was a litt...

Re: Steering column cover
That is not a standard SII arrangement. That's all part of the cover. Here's my '55 SII. 20230501_095007.jpg Basically what you have is that entire dirty grey sleeve has somehow been fixed to the Column Bracket to enable the Stalk to be fitted. I've never seen that before. It will also serve another...

The down side of (anti)social media is the short attention span, the randomness and nastiness of people. I used to have a Twitter account when I ran my business, but when I retied, I closed the X account because I simply hadn't used it for 2 years. Too many nasty people on there. The MMOC FB Group i...

Yes, they can get pretty well jammed on over the years with corrosion. Often, giving it a good soaking with penetrating oil/diesel/ATF, etc. for a few hours beforehand helps. I gave it 2 -3 days spraying it in several times from the back, each stud hole and the centre boss, it just wasn't travellin...

Re: Lucas 166 Hazard Panel
I would judge it to be around 3 -3.5" wide, going from the Double pole switch it uses. They're about 3/4" wide body. The mounting lip is going to be around 3/8" Having looked it up, I see now that it is a replacement Classic Jag part. They actually sell in the £150 - £165 price bracke...

Blimey that's pricey; but then having seen what they charge for a 'Dummy RB106' I'm not really surprised.
Although they are by no means the most expensive for a place selling them.

Nice saving, but at least the garage correctly identified the fault. The guy was a bit dim to actually touch the disc though, I think he might have burnt his fingertip.. I was surprised there had been no noticeable 'pull' to the right on the steering; I assume being FWD the transmission comp...

Now you've explained it was an ebay item, rather than direct from their website, Alles Klar as the phrase goes.
